Evening everyone,

I'm a member of various forums but this one has an ever so slightly different system. I was just wondering if some some kind soul can clarify a few things.

Firstly, this reputation system . . Is it just to willy wave about how much you help? The other one is that once a deal is posted, all the rating business, I know it shows how much people rate how hot the deal is, but more importantly how is it ranked? All I can see is just a fancy meter that eventually dies along with a thread.

Thank you for your time :)

Evening to you too and Thanks for the post :)

Firstly, reputation is there as a means to either thank someone for helping you, or to oppose/disapprove of a posters comments in any post or deal.

Members who've been here for some time, posted a lot or received reputation themselves, will carry different weights of how much reputation they can give or take away.

The temperature of a deal, decides the quality of that deal and that's achieved mainly by how many members vote. That's why it's important for everyone to vote on ALL deals, as this will keep the very best of them nearer the top of the front page.

We encourage people to leave an explanation in the thread of a deal where the cold vote is used though.

The temperature meter will always be there, even if the deal goes off the front page. So if you search using the filtering system there, the higher rated deals will show up first, but not necessarily in exact order, because of other factors...

Hi ray, didn't know you could take away rep.How is this done.:)

Deal temperature is ranked on the votes given to it, the number of views and the number of replies. Depending on your reputation you have a different weight when you vote. Your reputation is built from the temperature of deals you have posted, length of time in forum, forum reputation and number of posts.

Not all parts of this are turned on yet as we are still tweaking some of it. Overall the idea is so that the system lets people who have a good history have more influence marking which deals are hot.

Phew complicated enough or what :)

Very complicated lol But I think bazr meant taking away reputation from a member. I would only use this in extreme cases personally, not for disagreeing about a deal quality, but if a member was very offensive for example.

Thanks ray but the question was how do you actually do this. Not that i have anybody in mind.It is just nice to know everything about something you are involved with.:)
