Does anyone know if councillors allowances are included as income for working/child tax credit reasons.

I deal with this at work - it is not an income it is an allowance BUT when notifying the benefits people etc you need to state that you have the amount coming into the household. I have one councillor who is on benefits and does not have the allowance paid to him because he is better off not receiving the money but claiming all the benefits through being out of work.

Thanks for that my partner does work but doesn't receive a great wage. Just wasn't sure if it was worth it if he was going to be penalised by actually getting this allowance..
