hd-dvds will only work in a hd-dvd drive
if u dont mind spendin a lil money then its worth it. Also u can get a lot of titles for circa £5 each these days so spend bout 100 quid and u will have some nice films

Well i have an hd dvd player and the quality is amazing so i would reccomend it and HD dvds wont work in normal dvd players unless they are combo discs

If you are going to make use of the drive.... why not!

No HD DVDs will not work in a DVD drive.

Of course only problem is HD has gone down the pan...
Expect next version of XBox to have Blue ray or blue ray Xbox External drive in the near future :-D

But for £20 you cant really go wrong :)

true
but for example you cant really argue at some of the prices of some hd-dvds today
i mean i got all the harry potters for under 25 quid
only blu ray they total about 90 quid or something stupid

Yeah well I'm just thinking of the heroes series one deal and then some other films for £5!

And don't forget that HD-DVDs are region-free, so you can pick up relatively cheap from abroad too.

How long do you think the gamestation and hmv deal will be on for?
Because I can't afford both atm :(

I would get your player first and dvds after. The dvds will be of no use to you without something to play them on:)

well hd-dvds are gonna have to come down in price cos its a dead format
mebbe get the drive first with the couple of hd-dvds
#12
So true lol :p
But then what if I buy the player and then all the dvd's go out of stock :p
#13
With the format dying Ebay should have a thriving market for quite some time.

I picked up the player with Serenity and Bourne Supremacy for £25 at Gamestation then got King Kong for a fiver at Play. Got Heroes HD-DVD for £12.99 at HMV then Bourne Identity for £7 at Axelmusic. Stupidly got the Matrix trilogy for £30 the days before someone found a better deal on here.

If I ever get a BD player and decide to replace them I'll just stick the lot on Ebay.
#14
gutted
managed to get matrix trilogy for 15 squids
watched the first one last night :)
#15
are the ones at gamestation pre owned?
I might trade a couple of games in and get one with the money they give me ( get them to price CEX :p )

well i work near my sorting office anyway so it wouldnt have been a problem
but you dont expect a package to be sitting outside your door, lol its really bad but i know that myself if i saw that ouside someones house, i woudl have known that it was from hmv (the solid cardboard they use) and i would have taken it.

Gamestation ones are not reconditioned. They are new

Fair point, but new DVD's are only in Blue-ray format, so HD DVDs are cheap probably because they are old.

well there are still some newish films out on hd-dvd so imo its worth baggin them at cheap prices
move to blu ray when the new ps3 comes out and when the prices go down!

The discs didn't magically disappear or stop working when Blu-Ray won.

It's a temporary fix of HD quality films for a fraction of the cost of buying a BD setup. I know that at some point in the future I will have to buy these again in the new format but for now I can get them in the same high quality for a fiver.

That doesn't negate my opinion or my overwhelming need to tell it to everyone on internet forums.

Now if you'll excuse me I think i'll go and watch a HD-DVD with the sound turned up full to try and ignore the fact the player sounds like a hoover full of nails. :whistling:
