Courier/postage help

My Brother has just sold his first item on ebay and being his luck, has charged the buyer £8.50 for postage (which he thought it was) when her details have come through, it's an inverness address, which he now realises is classed as 'the highlands' by couriers and they want just over double to post the same thing. I've checked and can find it could be posted royal mail standard parcels for £12.61 (weighs 8.5 kg 75x45x45cm in size) but obviously he doesn't have the tracking with that.
Has anybody had to post via courier to the highlands before and know of any cheaper couriers etc. than parcel2go who we tried??
Any help would be greatly appreciated and repped :)

Does you listing say shipping to UK only? What does it say exactly? (FYI for furture always put the shipping to Southern Ireland and Highlands will be more so please contact for a price)

People in the Highlands know perfectly well that it is very expensive to ship there so should have really checked with you before they bought.

I have asked for additional money before from the buyer as they didnt stipulate where they were and they have happily coughed up a few extra quid

what a scam that is - costs no more to post it there than it does to Glasgow or Edinburgh

wrong - it costs a lot more - check it out on the courier websites or royal mail and then you can come back and leave me a little apology note!

Thanks guys :) Sadly non of those make much of a difference. It's my own fault really. It was listed as shipping to the UK and despite having been an ebayer for years, i was unaware that it cost more for certain places via courier. I shall be a bit more careful in the future
