I want to tax my car ASAP and want to get an insurance with cover note online.

I know swiftcover do only online policies and I can print one after ordering but they are not cheapest. I already got one for a friend and it works perfectly and accepted in PO.

Tesco is cheapest but my question is, do I get a cover note immedietely after purchasing to print off?

I had a Tesco insurance 3 years ago and it had a cover note that I printed and used. Not sure about now.

I tried privilege last night but they refused a cover note so had to cancel.

Thank you for quick reply.

We find Elephant cheapest for OH, Diamond for me.

Elephant were happy to fax a cover note over last month, which OH used in PO to get tax no problem.

Hope this helps

Otherwise, just phone Tesco and ask them

Thanks, rep given.
However elephant is expensive for me...
Will call tesco, but I believe the CS only knows as much as they are trained.
I was looking for answer from recent customer.

If you tax your car online it's a real time service so instantly checks if you have insurance and a valid MOT. One of the easiest purchases I've ever made online, only takes 2 or 3 mins and pretty sure you don't have to pay a charge if you use debit card ( £2.50 if credit card) So find th echeapest insurance, take it out then you'll be able to tax online and bet the tax disk will be with you on Tuesday ( You get a cert you can print out to say you have a disk in case you're stopped by the PolicE)

It doesn't work for recently bought policies. The system takes time to get updated.
Plus I want the disc to be able to drive during weekend.

Only problem is I just bought car last night and is uninsured.

...online...

Since I bought this car yesterday I am not able to get tax online.....

IMPORTANT
If you have recently purchased this vehicle and you have not received your full Registration Certificate (log book) from DVLA (the green slip alone is not enough) you should NOT use this service.

The problem is the new insurance doesn't appear on Govt's website immediately... or does it?
I remember my friend was trying to do a while ago but new insurance was not retrievable by the website you recommended. Thanks anyway.

Since I bought the car already last night I had to do something ASAP.

Online tax does not work with new car buyers.
So I went with SwiftCover and just got my tax disc from PO now.

Thank you everybody for help.
