Mainly open an account cause of the offers on here

after paying it all off is there any drawbacks to leaving the account open and dormant, as usually it was for the deal so i doubt i would be using the account again

or should i cancel and close it? but theres no close account options in my account

There's a possible danger that if you leave it open, you may be more at risk of Identity Theft - with another company having an open account for you = more mailings to go through the postal system with possible sensitive information.

I think if you never intend on using it again, you'd be best to close it - think of all the trees you'd save! lol!

Not sure if you can close the account from your account (if that makes sense) probably have to write to them, but it is always advisable to close accounts that you have no intention of using as they have a credit on them and this goes towards your limit on credit (gawd that didnt make much sense either)

Everybody in the uk has a maximum amount of "credit" they can recieve, say yours is £10,000, and you have 3 dormant accounts each with a £1,000 limit, then you decide you want a new car for £9,000 but you want it on credit, you will be refused because your avaliable credit is £7,000. Its best to close old accounts as they quickly mount up.

Even if you close the account it doesn't stop them sending out mini catalogues in future.
I knwo 1 thing about the catalogues they don't really listen to what you tell them,I onyl use them when there is promotion codes about, anyway cos both of us in here will have an account, that means 2 catalogues will come twice a yr,I keep telling them not to send us a catalogue as I can view and usually order online and they still send them out,we must get about 16 catalogues a yr each in all!

I might try to ask littlewoods to lower my credit limit - they have given me something stupid like £2500. I only need the account for using vouchers with £100 would do me fine.
I did the same with my main credit card - and got the credit reduced to £500 so if it gets fraudulently used they wont get far with it.

if you really dont want to recieve catalogues, then ask to be removed from their mailing lists, there was some1 recently who asked, and they didnt do it, so he took them to court for invasion of privacy and something under the data protection act. Think he got 5 qrand compensation!

I ain't really fussed about it myself, just its a waste of paper, they supposed to recycle them here according to council website but last time I put some out they refused them.
