Croydon shooting: Man killed in drive-by attack!!

A 24-year-old man has died after being shot in the head in Croydon, south London.

Police said he had been in a Volkswagen car when a motorcyclist with a passenger pulled up alongside in Wellesley Road and fired shots.

He was taken to hospital by the driver of the car who suffered minor injuries but died on arrival.

Officers said they were alerted after the man arrived at hospital shortly after 22:00 BST on Friday.

No arrests have yet been made.

I've not seen this on the news and I'm not aware that this is common in the UK hence me posting it.

No info on motive or any further info yet.

Thanks for your news report.
I get that this may be of interest to those who live in or around Croydon, but can I just ask if we are allowed to post any random/local story from the news on here, or should it be limited to discussions that may be of interest to a broader/national audience?

I don't live in Croydon.. If people have guns I think it's of interest, especially in light of recent events.

So what your saying is you don't care if a suicide bomber blows himself up killing 22 kids as long as it's not at your local stadium?

This is misc. Anything goes.

Probably something drug related. Round my parts there seems to be constant turf wars over drugs with the Russians Vs paramilitaries Vs ..
Hope they all wipe each other out.

Being shot in the head and killed in a drive by shooting is not just local news and never should be.

Unfortunately, you've hit the nail on the head.. 22 innocents or whatever get killed 'here' by a terrorist - big reaction. 22 equally innocent get killed elsewhere by a shiny bomb delivered by a nice shiny aeroplane and nobody gives a damn.

Hey I'd love to post some liveleak videos on here.. But I know I'll get banned..
I'm fully aware of some of the stuff going on around the world, but clearly getting flamed for posting a "local" story here Not everyone's eyes are fully open to the atrocities going on around the world. I personaly don't have enough time to become the worldwide HUKD news reporter.. So if you want to add some threads go ahead. I'd love to hear what boko haram are getting up to..

Ps. are they innocents OR just whatever to you??

Clicking on a thread in misc to debate whether it should be there or to say nobody cares would like me as a man voting cold on a tampon deal and then posting "what do I need these for?"

Not interested don't click it, clicked it and realised you aren't interested, leave.

So, hypothetically, would you be happy to see Misc filled with page upon page of copy&paste links and articles from BBC news? If every piece of news from Devon & Cornwall was posted for example?
What would you say in that scenario, since that could potentially happen if left uncontrolled?

My old secondary school is on that road - from back in the 80's.
Pretty much been a deprived/neglected, gang-related-crime related area from as long as I can remember. :(

Drive by shooting and murder are stories of interest to all in the country. This Nutter could be anywhere.

Unfortunately so, until such events come nearer to home like this well established behaviour, until they got closer to London and particularly City of London:-

The Croydon postcode CR0 was found to have the highest number of crimes reported last year, with 5,000 more than any other postal area.
Went there a couple of weeks' ago. Sensible people stay well away from there at night.

It's already been covered..
Do I have to personally reply..

**or should it be limited to discussions that may be of interest to a broader/national audience?**

OK here goes. Until more news on this comes out we don't know what it's in relation to so it could turn out a local gang, single random nutter or it could turn out to be something more..

I did put Croyden, shooting and killed in the title..

So that gives the audience a little clue what's going to be contained "inside"the thread.

No football, no rugby, no tennis, no politics.

News threads get slated both ways for either being too local or not enough on global incidents. As stated I am not the HUKD anchor man. If you don't like it, don't click and if you do click move on if you then don't like it..

As for copy and paste.. Is that not what most deals are? oO

If we post a story other users want proof.. hence the links.. Then other users want credible sites. Some see the BBC as a credible site for news, so I try to provide a BBC link where possible.

I come to this site for bargains. I read the papers and watch the news several times daily for news events. Yes, I'm aware I didn't have to click but really? This site is called HotUK Deals and look down the menu - every category is to do with money saving or comps. No news section. Just because it says misc, don't abuse the site.

Let me ask you a hypothetical question, if you were one of two people left on a crashing plane but only one parachute left, would you keep it to yourself or share it. The twist is though the person you share it with becomes paraplegic due to landing to fast and you must spend the rest of your life taking care of them.

The problem with potential situations is that they aren't reality. That is not the case, people don't spam with tonnes of news stories. It's not likely to happen and misc is already monitored by mods who remove stuff.

Not surprised by a shooting there to be honest. Let me know when something more extra ordinary happens, like a drive by jousting or drive by tea bagging. Cheers.
