All of the above depends on your PSP's model and firmware currently installed.

OK, the only way to put CFW on this PSP is with a Pandora battery and a Magic memory stick.

Yeah I'm going with one of these too.

Got one psp running GEN D-3

And one with OFW 6.00 (both slims)

Already destroyed 2 batteries trying to DIY a pandora (only got one left lol)
So yeah, get a ready made one:thumbsup:

How come, one of the the battery works (ie, light comes on as soon as you put it in)
The others complete knackered though.

Tried loads of methods to create a magic memory stick, all say successful but they wont put my ofw psp in recovery mode, no matter what I try.
No flashing lights, nothing.

The other method is using the "HEN" method, which as I understand it, can be used on all PSP's that can be hacked. As yours is on 6.?? I don't believe it can be done.

It seems like the Pandora battery is working, but your MMS is not correct. I use the "RAIN" application these days, it creates the MMS in one step, no messing about.

I can't remember where I downloaded it from though.

yeah tried RainsUltraLiteMMS,
and Rains simple mms maker
still nada
#16
oh err its sounding a bit to techie for me now lol

chris_avfc
the HEN method is only for 5.03 and only works on phats and some 2000 models (depends on the motherboard, i think)

I will bow down to your superior knowledge.

it may not be right, just think i read it somewhere

You are right

Just to be clear on this, ANYTHING above 5.03 OFW will require a Pandora Battery and Magic Memory stick. And of course you have to have the right Model PSP with the right Motherboard.

All PHAT PSP's are hackable using various methods.

Most Slim PSP's are hackable by using Pandora or Hen (some are not)

And all 3000's below 5.03 firmware can use HEN (although they can't be flashed)

You are right

So you can't use the HEN method on 3000 models?

Reading your last post, a phat PSP with 6.20 can be hacked with a Pandora?

That doesn't mention what firmware the PSP is on.
I have done loads of PSP's but had one last week(phat) with Sony firmware of 6. something that would not go into service mode.

The firmware is irrelevant. Pandora can hack any version firmware because it puts the PSP into service mode, bypassing firmware.

going back to my original post ..once its been hacked/cfw how often does it have to have the firmware changed on it ..does it last a while
#29
can someone tell me how easy it is to update custome firmware?

I've got a psp slim running 3.80 M33-5, do i still need a pandora battery? and are there many real benefits of updatingto the latest CFW?

Everyone is is pretty much stuck on firmware 5.50 for now. No one knows if or when a new CFW will come out.

For now this plays about 99% of all PSP games. It will probably last while but sooner or later newer games will no longer work on this firmware.
