If you like I did purchased the Samsung R519 laptop from argos, it was on offer with a free bag and mouse.

You was more than likely mislead and entitled to a refund.

The item description in the catalogue and online said it comes with a free 3year pre-registered warranty from the manufacturer. This is infact incorrect. If you contact Samsung they wont have any idea what your talking about.

You need to get back in touch with argos and inform them of the mistake, if they argue tell me to look in the spring/summer 2010 catalogue, it states 3 year pre-registered warranty.

This doesnt have to be registered.

Here is the advertisment on HOT UK Deals http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/samsung-r519-laptop-pentium-dual-co/650600

my partner has this and recently sent it off to be repaired under the warrenty with no problems.

He sent it of for repair because its still in its first year of purchase so both Argos and Samsung offer a standard 1 year warranty with anything they sell. However it was advertised with a free 3 year manufacturs warranty, which if you call samsung they wouldnt know anything about. Therefore Argos will provide a refund if you ask or offer you something of equal value.

have you taken yours back? how did you find out that it didnt come with a 3year warrenty?

I was having problems with it, and I contacted Samsung to come and collect it for repair, just out of curiousity I asked how much warranty do I have with the product they said standard 1 year, I infored them of everything but they said sorry your contract is with the seller. (sales of good act)

I contacted argos, explained the issue, and first they said sorry its samsungs fault, i wasnt having that as argos sold the product advertised with a 3 year warranty. I informed them of this and they offered 2 year extended argos breakdown, if they tell you should have registered the warranty they are fobbing you off.

P.S increase hottness

If you look at your box the laptop came in, it should actually say includes 3 year fastguard collect and return, however if your ring samsung they will tell you otherwise.

how much was it? i got mine from the home access grant, they claim that and the internet was 528

It was £399, with bag and mouse free. Also came with AVG security and the advertised but not given 3 year warranty, which is false advertisment therefore entited to full refund if you dont wish to accept your sellers offers.

I got offered the 2 year extended warranty, which I turned down, I then for offered gift vouchers which I've taken them up on as I was going to buy something from argos, but if your not happy with vouchers a simple letter informing them of there false advertisment will do the trick.

I might also add, its best speaking to a manager.

When I contaced argos initally there said we have no way of viewing the advertisment as we no longer sell the item, I then start collecting evidence as thought I would be going to court, but I came across a spring/summer catalogue which shows the 3 year warranty, I called and the advisor had the catalogue with her, I told her and ask for a manager the rest is above....

I rang Samsung the other day they said I did not have a 3 year warranty so rang Argos and said it did not come with a 3 year Warranty. After 5 mins of arguing about false advertisement they said I would need to prove it said 3 year warranty. So can anyone scan a copy of the page? :)

Got my laptop from Argos Feb 10, crashed 1yr 1 week later.Gone through ringing Samsung and Argos - nobody know anything about extended warranty. I'm gathering any info. so I can go to Argos prepared. Can anyone send me a copy of product description from catalogue. Maybe this is a case 4 Watchdog!

Having the same problem, cant find anything which says I have a 3 year warranty. My laptop went wrong about 2 weeks ago and they refuse to do anything until I can prove it said 3 years on the catalogue.

I bet someone still has an old copy of the catalogue sitting about somewhere. Put a thread in misc asking if someone has one.

Seems strange how some peoples boxes state 3 years and some dont. Either they were sourced from different suppliers or it was a short term promotion (normally sticker on box) run by Samsung.
#17
I finally got some help from the tech team who confirmed it does have a 3 year warranty and he gave me this link which I then showed to the customer service team and they phoned Samsung up and sorted it. FINALLY

Which catalogue do you need? Year? Spring+Summer or Autumn+Winter?
#19
I bought the same laptop from Argos last year and have cut out and kept the actual page of the advertisement. Unfortunately I can't scan it but I can photocopy it and send it to you if you still need evidence.

having the same problems as all of you. Hard drive has failed after 14 months and neither want to know.So on-going battle currently waging.
However I have the original catalogue and can provide scanned picture of ad inside and on back cover on request.
Argos will also send you a copy of proof of purchase if you kick off

Hello - first post here. My Samsung R519 laptop has died within the 3 year g'tee period. I would love a copy of the 2010 spring/summer Argos catalogue to prove the warranty is 3 years - getting the run-arround from Samsung and Argos !!!
Many thanks in adavnce and Merry Christmas to all... Cheers, Ken

I ordered 2 laptops for me and my bro and the first one broke about a year ago. Samsung knew nothing about the warranty and wouldnt touch it. Phoned Argos and they argued about it for weeks but then finally fixed it. Now my second laptop also died and so far have been unable to get them to collect it and fix it. They keep saying I need a copy of the catalogue which so far no one has. Think there is more chances of pigs flying than it getting fixed
