You still don't want to do it really as they've only got to put in a noise complain and if they get environmental health out your in trouble

im not the political type :giggle: plus i cant be botherd repeating myself every 2 weeks

I think it's brilliant but as RedIron says, you could end up in bother. First off I would contact Environmental Health and they can install a soundometer (not the real technical term obviously!) which will record the amount of decibels. If that doesn't work, crank it up!

police dont actually attends to loud music anymore, they leave that for the council i think or the anti social behaviour ppl... what they do is turn up check whether it was true.... sooooo what u can do is do it once at 2am, then next night at 3am and then the one after at 4am, give her a taste of her own medicine hehe - and you wont get caught..... .mmmmm am i evil?!?! (unfortunately never had a chance to do that to the previous students cos they never get up in the morning only at 3am in the morning - they're students - no wonder im tired all the time!)

ps - sound meter thing dont work.... we've had a lot of bother with the annoying neighbours - unfortunately changes on a yearly basis, we had it installed but it detects hardly anything even if its loud. Human ears are more sensitive than their stupid machines unfortunately

oh forgot to mention its in uni halls ( but a house of 12)
#21
If there are 12 of you in the house then all you'll manage is to tick off the other 10. If its uni owned property then complain to them? I expect they use the standard university educational lease which includes a clause entitling you to "quiet enjoyment" of the property. Threaten to sue them for the breach, and then let them shut her up.

the thing is mate if a complain to the uni, my house mates will think im a **** etc. also i dont want to offend her by complaing just want her to learn her lesson (pun intended) and hope fully it will stop once she realises that it messes the rest of the day up.

finally it only seems that only i can hear the music as im directly under her room, so in theory she should be the only one to hear my version.

Just drill a hole in your ceiling, and watch her undress.

Twice on the pipe if the answer is no

Have you actually tried talking to them about it? Failing that get a load of wires, some Peroxide, plasticine, wire cutters, maps of the london underground an put them all in a backpack. Then call the police and say you heard them mentioning a terrorist plot, problem solved......lol....

How about a cheaper alternative.

Burn a disc with 1 song and 55 minutes(or however long a cd lasts for) of silence or something really quiet and then put the whole cd on repeat.

Bingo job done.

Look man, you're at uni halls, which I'm guessing means your at Uni, what are you doing being asleep at such a stupid time that you are woken at 6am? you're meant to party from sundown - sunrise, and sleep through the day, otherwise you might aswell just quit uni!

You are correct. This is a civil offence rather than a criminal offence because the issues involve the the victimsmaking the accusations rather than the state - other examples being unpaid debts between private individuals or breach of contract between private indivduals. Subsequently, this is a matter for the Council and not the state police. The usual course of action does involve politely asking the offender to reduce the noise although this is not always practical, of course, in which case the local authority should be the first point of contact only if the local authority have effected the Noise Act 1996.

It may be possible to pursue the matter by claiming a "breach of the peace" which is criminal law and these issues can be actioned upon by the police.

Get a cheap mobile phone (old nokia with long battery life) then undo the light fitting in your room and pop it in the gap between your ceiling and her floor. Then in the night phone it and let it ring a few times to wake her up. Then leave it an hour and do it again. She will end up so tired after a few days she will get up later as she will need the extra sleep.
