Damsel in distress! Virgin Media help needed!

I need to collect the Virgin Media box from my old student house - I wasn't paying attention when they installed it so don't know how it was put in, but someone has said they screw the wires in and I'll need a screwdriver and pliers to get them out. Can anyone tell me how I remove the damn thing and whether I'm going to need tools or if I can just go and unplug it?! Do I also need to return the little white box they fitted near the phone?
Problem is, I can only get to the house once as I have to drag the letting agent there to let me in as the new tenants haven't moved in yet, so I need to get it out first time!

They told me two stories... one idiot said I'd be charged £250 if I didn't return it, one said it would be £50. Apparently they've only just started collecting them :(

Hmm... Not sure I want to risk a £200 bill for something I've not got! Plus I don't live there anymore, so there's a chance the new people will nick it/not be in when Virgin call round!! Bloomin things!!

I have the box! Ha haaaa! The landlord said he was "doing me a favour"! I said "well seeing as it's my stuff, it's better than the bailiffs coming round"... soon shut him up!
