is it worth intervening in something happening like this right in front of your eyes......would you risk blocking the bikes in with your car even though the stuff is all insured?

i think in days gone by the public would jump in in these sort iof blatant sitiuations but the threat of being harmed just doesnt seem worth it these days

+1, and what could you do anyway ?

if you did do something youd probably get it from the police and the robbers

in july last year a group of lads (7) were attacking a girl in Taunton i stepped in to help her and got a good kick in, spent the night in hospital, had broken nose, two black eyes, 3 bust ribs and spent two weeks not being able to sleep through th pain.
would i help someone again... YES.
people of Britain need to stand up and be counted it cant be left to any political party as they are not interested in the comon people, just remember if you do. you used the minimum force that you deemed necessary in the situation

I'm suprised that the jewellery shops are not improving their security from this new spate of motorcycle crime.
These gangs are getting away with so much, it's just a pick n mix for them.
I think jewellery shops need to start having gated boundries or something to stop motorcyclists even getting near the place.

Much as i commend you, this situation is a company, not a person, no-one is being harmed, and the money lost will be a drop in the ocean for the company, Im not saying its victimless, but this situation isnt worth a member of the public being involved

When you're dealing with a store like this, they're insured up the ***. They're not supposed to give you any resistance whatsoever. If you get a customer or an employee who thinks he's Charles Bronson, take the butt of your gun and smash their nose in. It drops him right to the floor. Everyone jumps. He falls down screaming. Blood squirts out of his nose. Freaks everybody out. Nobody says ******* **** after that. You might get some ***** talk **** to you. But give her a look like you're going to smash her face next, watch her shut the **** up. Now if it's the manager, that's a different story. The managers know better than to **** around. So if you get one that's giving you static, he probably thinks he's a real cowboy, so you gotta break that son of a ***** in two. If you wanna know something he won't tell you, cut off one of his fingers-- the little one. Then tell him his thumb's next. After that, he'll tell you if he wears ladies' underwear. I'm hungry. Let's get a taco.

I would jump in and have a go,tbh,I have done a few times before and would always do so again, its just the way I am....fully understand people not doing so though and would never criticise anyone for this

I highly doubt that you would 'jump in' in this situation
#15
If it was another person I would like to think I would but a company no......

I got a good kicking once on a bus by a group of 10ish girls and boys and no-one did a thing the driver didn't even stop the bus.... so I would like to think I would help someone

Then we would be both talking about a robbery and doing a boothy rip thread

then you would be incorrect, normally once one person starts having a go then others will follow,I respect the law and deplore criminals,as long as I was not endangering an innocent person thats my decision to make based on my own principles
#18
too risky people who take the effort to pull this sort of crime will most likely come armed. Its just not worth it unless there's ALOT of people intervening.

Lol, you would be surprised at the lack of support you would receive from everyone else in times like these. Especially in London

then that would be their choice,it would still not stop me intervening in some way.

Depends on the crime. I was in sainsburys a few months ago watching a couple of guys steal a load of blurays. Was quite amusing as the security guards had no idea.
#22
this could have been done with one man and his mate on a bike, the fact that they got 3 extra guys there most likely these guys meant business, could have had mac 10s or anything on them
#23
If you intervened and one of the robbers got hurt then you'd probably be arrested.

I'd like to think I'd step in to help a person (not a company like the one mentioned in the OP - they're insured) but when you hear stories of good people trying to help being turned on violently, that makes me question if I'd do it.

Comes down to your instinct at the time.

CCTV ?

Obviously when another person is in danger then I would intervene. Have done before. But if it's the robbery of a jewellery store it really isn't worth it
#30
i witnessed a bank robbery before it was really quiet in there and the securicour(sp) guy came in with black box soon as he opened it three young guys

swooped grabbed the bags of cash and legged it, i was standing by the doors at the time and my mate and OH pulled me out the way, saw them jump

into a waiting car outside.

We quickly left before the police arrived as we didnt want to get involved, they did get caught a couple of days later

I would have found some stones or bollards to throw at their heads. If I was in my car I would have drove up the pavement and blocked them in.

What would you do when they turned around and rode off in the other direction? After possibly shooting you, stabbing you and/or damaging your car.

surely there must be glass tougher than what they are using, after 5 smash n grabs in 3 years you would of thought they would have learnt

insurance must pay well

Wow! What a story! Can't say I'd get involved, if they are going to display that kind of jewellery what do they expect?

Some say he breaks into jewellery stores in his spare time, and that he pee's Sulphuric Acid.

All we know is....he's called The Stig.
