That wouldnt surprise me if they started to do that with loads of games now, Always trying to make more money. Paying maybe £30+ for a new game and then paying more on top just to play online, thats pretty greedy. I would possibly pay a one off fee of like £10 for a year maybe but no way would I pay that a month.

Imagine it was like that for call of duty or Fifa then they would be making serious money.

...and Activision thought about it for the release of "...Black Ops" but it was dismissed (for the time being).

i can understand the subscription price if the game was free or it was like a £10 - £20 but spending £30+ for a game then havign to then pay an extra £10 a month to play it is a fricking joke

its the same with the new lego game thats out £25.00 ( or less) and you have one month free then pay £9.99 a month after!
Games are expensive enough as it is

Xbox format I'm guessing?

The "LEGO Universe" title isn't that expensive. Even GAME.co.uk had it at £14.99 recently & it did go as low as £9.99 on one day before Christmas.

("DC Universe Online") is Microsoft Windows & PS3 only.

WOW, City of Heroes, Eve, warhammer and FF are all pay to play. This is not new. MMORPGs are mainly pay to play.

this guys right, its old news.I'm sure if you try hard enough you can get the game ~£30, and that includes one month sub.
It's only shocking to us PS3 users as we haven't had to pay for the privilige of online like xbox or MMO's like the PC users

A friend of mine has just bought it and he loves it! I said he was mad but his argument was he will get a years entertainment out of it for 10 a month, the alternative was buying a 40 quid game every month to keep him going and therefore is saving 30 quid a month! And I thought kinect was dear and a rip off...

yes i did see that, my son bought it when it was full price, I think its disgraceful they want to charge people a monthly fee , worse when its a kids game ( think the lego one might be for predominately kids)

The cost of running servers, support and the constant development of content mean MMOs, even crap ones, cost significantly more to run than regular games.

You get 30 days use with the initial price.

most MMOs are paid for, but thats £120 a year, crazy money.
i think theres a bit of discount of block payments for subs

xbox said they wouldnt have it because theyre against charging people on-top of LIVE

for a game like mmo paying for a subscription is normal look at warcraft. Just because this is on a console doesnt really mean it should be treated any different than any other MMO

Probably would have been this years installment if the reviews were better but probably still not stop them, also if Sony release the PS4 would not be surprised if they charge to go online as well.

hahaha, nice try buddy. Maybe it is but at least you have a choice.
It's not cost me a penny, because I haven't bought it. I bet that if this was a subscription for the 360 you'd be defending it....

It's £49.99 for 6 months. PC users get the option of a £130 lifetime membership.

I have paid subs for mmos and played them for 2 years plus - works out cheaper than buying loads of console games

Nice try at what ? (read the ops title) , It's a RIPOFF just like Phantasy star online for the xbox 360 is/was and that was "only" about £6 a month.
As for the subscription try asking PSN+ users what they think of also having to pay for this every month..

I don't need to defend anything, I have both consoles and a WINDOWS PC so I am am not limited in choice but I won't be getting it simply because it's ridiculously overpriced..

This is why I don't wanna try a MMO.

PSN+ is a choice
DCUO is a choice
Don't want to pay then don't buy it, simple as.
To you it may be over priced, but as some people have said you can get years out of it, and if you use the PSN card deals from HUKD, and pay for 6 months at a time, it's not too bad if MMO's are your kind of thing.

You're making yourself look rather foolish now, people are not stupid. They just won't buy it, simple as that.
