Dead Sky+HD box.

Tripped the fuse on the mains ring at my house today (hoover based incident). This killed all the sockets, so I flipped the switch again. Sky box has decided to stay in standby mode since then. I am unable to turn in back on.
Any ideas of how to get it up and running again?

almost certainly the power supply, there are flaky at best on these boxes

Assuming you have unplugged the sky box, left it for a bit and then plugged it back in (so it reboots itself) - if not try that

If you cant get it to work call sky and say you want to cancel because your box has broken so cant get services you are paying for, and cant afford to pay for a new box or engineer at the moment. They should offer to send an engineer out because its a lot cheaper than losing your custom!

found this online the other week when a mate had the same problem, it fixed his so worth a go

1. Switch power off
2. press and hold both the left and right arrow keys on the front of the box together
3. Switch power back on and hold until all the lights light up on the front of the box
4. Let go and it will do a software download

I somehow kinda broke my sky hd box ages ago. Now, after power loss, I have to plug it in, and wait like 10-15 mins. Then press sky button and it comes on.

Thanks for the help. Going to try the old unplug, wait and see method first. Then go for the software download if it won't work at all.
Want to make sure that all my programmes are recorded and waiting for me when I get back off holiday next week. Otherwise I will go spare.

Think I might have some success! The little red reciever light is flashing when I press a key on my remote! Come on!

thats what mine does - but if you badget it too many time, mine just refuses.

seriously, i plug mine in, come back 15 mins later, and press it. then it works.

Finally got in on! When that green light came on I think I did a little wee! Shame I've missed half the TV I wanted to watch today.

thats what mine does - but if you badget it too many time, mine just refuses.

seriously, i plug mine in, come back 15 mins later, and press it. then it works.

same with one of my boxes, maybe not 15 mins but a good 5 minutes before it will do anything

Warning following this will format your HD or Sky+ boxes and lose all recordings and series links..... Step 2 you have to hold down the backup button for a software download.

how long have you had sky? they sent out new cards a while back

Had it since December. Got it on that immense friends and family offer that got posted on here. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have even considered it. I'm pretty sure I have the most recent Sky viewing card, but it has come up with the message a few times. Also I have no idea how to check the slot to see if there actually is a viewing card in it. As it doesn't pop out like the older Sky boxes.
