Deal or no deal........what amount would you take?

Had this discussion yesterday, see what you think.

If the 2 boxes left at the end of the game were 1p and £250,000 what would be the minimum offer from the banker that would make you deal?

Or as Sy says would you go for the gamble and risk losing the lot or winning the lot?

I went for £100,000, others said they'd deal at as low as £40,000.

And you would win, scoundrel.

I would take enough to put down a deposit on a house.

Any figure for that?

I would probably take anything - but the offer would not be that low - not in a position to be able to lose out on 1000's of pounds!! Maybe if I was then I would risk it.

I would say to Noel i dont want to know what the banker is offering i just want to open the box, that way you still have more than was offered, even though it maybe a penny. I would be happy gambling this way
#11
I hope I would go for the gamble, but in the heat of the moment I would probably settle for £50,000
#12
I would take whatever he offered tbh-there are acceptable 50/50 risks in life, but this isnt one of them imho-you are bound to get offered 50k minimum and to gamble that against a penny is madness

Ive always said u went with nothing and if u came home with nothing u havnt lost anything so i would gamble, but as said in heat of moment i dont know about £75K
#14
I think i'd take £40k +.

In theory i'd like to say anthing below £100,000 and its not worth dealing, but in practice how sick do you feel by being greedy and missing out
#15
Anything above 50k really.

More than likely you will be offered 100k ish.

i dont think anyone on here is in the financial position to bet 100k on a 5050 outcome which is essentially what you would be doing!
#16
About £80,000 i would take. I am a gambler but that is a lot to lose :)
#17
you get better value if you take the gamble, there is no way you would get offered half the 250k, so you get the chance of 50/50 to more than double 'your money'.

even if offered 124k
calculating the expected profit = -0.5*£123,999.99 + 0.5*£250,000 = £63,000

This has happened on the programe last year with an old lady .
The offer was £88,000 which she declined and ended up with the 1p

i've always said if i was on the show...no matter what boxes i'd opened first i'd take the first offer...just to ruin the show.
