If you put some sensible shoes on you might be able to drive to the station and pick him up?

yip thats correct and also .............he will be entitled to a taxi to take him to his final destination. I used to work with GNER and done this all the time

I couldnt tell u the amount of times we taxied people from Glasgow to Manchester or London ! was incredible but once a train is delayed a certain amount of time and passenger has proof of a another journey that they will miss - then that train operator will get them there:thumbsup:

Haha you could TRY and sue them, but you'd be more successful if you followed their procedures ;) I don't know the "ins and outs" because I never use the train, but I know that you can claim expenses (ie taxi and bus) because of their delay. I'm sure it has to be delayed by a certain amount of time but speak to them and see what they have to say!

Would missing the last bus be enough proof for this? I mean it's not like he will have pre-booked a bus ticket.

Yes definitely! Station staff have good knowledge of connecting services and would def help u to get onto ur final destination.

Well because of the train being so late - with gner the rule was you had to have at least 45 mins between a connecting service ..............................then a rep of the company ur partner is travelling with should get him a taxi on account to his final destination.

this rule also applied to Virgin trains and scotrail.......................so I am assuming its a set rule amongst train servie providers:thumbsup:

I checked online, there's a form to d/load to claim if your train is more than 30 mins late.

When i started the thread i was joking,it never occurred to me about claiming, thanks:thumbsup:

I dont know if ur partner has arrived yet - but tell him this...........................even if there isnt a rep of the train company at his arrival station...............tell him to ask for station manager as he is wanting a taxi authorised to take him home

They have the authority to do this - 100% . If they say they cant, tell ur partner to get that persons name ..................as they will soon change their tune and get it organised:-D
