Anyone here in Scotland (Edinburgh)? Have you gotten any mail recently?

This is getting seriously annoying - I haven't gotten any mail for a week and I have some big items arriving in the mail (and I'm leaving the country for Christmas in a week!)

Any updates?

what about phoning your local depot and asking if anything is being held for you as they cant get it out? i heard on the new they will be doing packet deliverys at the weekend and opening longer to allow people to collect , think you just take id with address on ect. give them a call in the morning ... no harm in asking

Forgot to say, the depot in Glasgow I use(its a friends house I stay at sometimes when I have class early next day) was supposed to be open till 8pm Wednesday but never answered phones for the last 3 days! just 10 minutes of ringint then auto disconnect.

I was awaiting a few special deliveries items FROM scotland they took 2 days rather than a day.
#15
Yeah, I bought a few things last weekend and they only came today when I paid for quicker postage.

Also the stuff I posted out hasn't been received by other people yet.

Edit - PS - today was the 1st day since Monday that we received post to our house. Seems like the family were expecting quite a lot more than what actually turned up so just need to wait and see if it comes through tomorrow or Monday.

Most companies are using the weather as an excuse, all of the items I am having delivered are tracked and all are showing as being in the depots for five days or more and not moving. Yet they are supposed to be delivering the backlog first??

Up in Inverness deliveries seem to have been mainly fine bar a few small delays, I was expecting much worse with some of the road closures and traffic jams recently.

The roads may be fine now, but obviously they were completely blocked for nearly a week was it? and then there was some more snow. That means that there is a weeks worth of parcels piled up in a Glasgow warehouse somewhere in no particular order so the customer can't even go and fetch them... We have been chasing these parcels daily with the company we use and it seems that DHL stopped accepting ad hoc parcels from private customers a few days ago, to concentrate on the corporate parcels, and now they aren't even going to deal with new stuff until they clear the backlog... I know they have been delivering after hours and at weekends though to try to get the stuff out.

Our courier company whp book onto DHL say 'Do not send parcels to Scotland. Due to the recent bad weather and subsequent backlog parcels to Scotland won't be delivered until after Christmas - even if collected today.'

Despatch Bay blog 'We have been informed by DHL that any parcels collected after 09/12/2010 destined for Scotland will not arrive in time for Christmas. Further to this, you will also find that all services to certain Scottish postcodes have been temporarily suspended meaning that you will not be able to create labels for these destinations until normal service is resumed. This is in order to clear the current back log of parcels in these areas.'

carphonewarehouse 'Sorry, we can't deliver orders to home addresses in Scotland at the moment
Due to the bad weather, we can't accept any new orders for delivery to home addresses in Scotland until 4 January.'
