I don't consider the deal dead and buried. I've seen are a couple of people write they've been told it's off. Hardly the official word. Equally I've seen a couple of posts where they have been assured to receive the drive.

I think it's a premature to close the thread (unless the posts where abusive and above normal moderation).

Just my 2p.

I think we've already been through this on the old thread?
My order has always said this if I go to http://www.dell.co.uk/status and type in my Internet Receipt Number and e-mail address.
However if I use the link in the Dell Order Confirmation e-mail I'm told they are checking stock with the suppliers.

Well if dell start to issue delivery dates I or another mod will unlock the old thread on Hot deals but as it was getting unmanageable it seemed best to just close it for now.

People are pretty passionate about their deals, to put it mildly :p

No mine has changed. Via the link in the confirmation mail it used to say "checking stock with supplier". It now says "We have located your Order but we cannot advise a status, please contact Dell Customer Service."

I contacted Dell about my hard drive and they said that they have " NO MEMORY OF MY ORDER" :giggle:

I (and many others) have had a (estimated) delivery date - 21st August.

That was issued when they sent out the email confirmation, which included the PDF's of the order confirmation/Invoice and the T&C's.

Mine hasn't - via the link ont he email, I still get the following:

Order Status: Your order is being processed with our supplier. An estimated ship date will be available once the order has been accepted by our supplier.

But, like I said above, the email also said...

Confirmation of your recent Dell order is attached.

The Estimated Delivery Date for this order is on or before 21-AUG-07

Still getting this message, whichever route I take:

Your order is in Pre-Production Phase: Pre-Production

We are checking with our suppliers that the items you need are available.

Detailed Information
Your Order Information
Dell Customer Number
Order Number (Your or DELL's one):
Further Information
Order Date

Once all information has been confirmed with our supplier, we will be able to provide an estimated delivery date.

Has anyone phoned Dell to ask yet?

Obviously it would have been foolish to call them whilst the deal was still live but not now maybe?

I often find that internal communication leaves a lot to be desired ;-)

My conclusion is;

Either Dell are gross incompetents in not cancelling orders via e mail, or:

We may still get the drives.

As they allowed this deal to run for around 24 hours before pulling it, it seems strange that nobody has yet made a report of a written cancellation, as far as I am aware.

Theve changed my order status to: conntact the CS. So I guess they will inform that it might take longer than it was said at first or they are just trying to win something with us ie. make us to buy something else insted.
Ive emailed them, no way Im gonna waste time and money on the phone.

I think im gonna cry/scream. do you think they will try and ring back???
#25
Yes, they should call back.
Mate, I've always had REALLY great service. I mean callbacks asking me how I like my new Dell etc. I'm IT (MCSE) guy and know how to built PC but I've for a first time bought one from Dell (pretty much what I was looking for- THANKS MIKET!) and couldn't be more happy!

CS made me to buy more stuff from Dell. Always had callbacks etc.

Good luck!
Cheers

I've also had an email (timed at 12:15 pm, today) It says:
"Dear Customer,
The original estimated Delivery Date has changed because of a delay with our suppliers - however we are working to complete your order as quickly as possible.
Original Estimated Delivery Date: Aug 21st
New Estimated Delivery Date: Aug 28th"
I ordered one and have had a charge to my credit card.

well they havnt rang back yet:-(

Just phoned - passed around the houses for ages. As of now, they are cancelling orders and refunding - and they refused to offer an alternative (but she did apologise). Maybe someone else might get a different answer, but I was going nowhere. Apparently my refund is already being processed, so they offered me the alternative of buying another....oh well.
#29
Why are people phoning Dell so early - The original estimated delivery date on your order reciept was 21st August. We've had no emails to notify us of any changes to this and you would only know there's a problem if you keep checking the online status. But why would you need to check, if it isnt' expected until the 21st ? ? ?

I'm sitting tight on this one - It only becomes a problem after the 21st or they contact me.
#30
The expected email has arrived:

"Dear Customer,

We are very sorry – we have had an error in our systems, and the product you thought you were ordering was wrongly described on our website. The product code and price of your order related to a completely different product, and was incorrectly linked to the description of the Iomega Hard Disc Drive you requested. In fact, this is a discontinued product and is no longer in stock.

Due to this, your Dell Order Internet Receipt Number: [IR No] has not been processed, and has now been cancelled.

To place your order for a different Hard Disc Drive, please go to www.dell.com or talk to your sales agent.

We are sorry for the inconvenience that this error has caused, and thank you again for choosing Dell.

The reason I phoned Dell is because the online order status changed from "We are contacting our suppliers" to "There is a problem please contact Dell Support".

On finally getting through to a customer support agent I was told that my order had been cancelled due to Dell not having any stock. They will refund me in the next two to three working days.

When I pointed out section 3.3 of their own terms and conditions about how the order confirmation was a "Binding Contract" the agent responded.....

"Very sorry, but if we don't have the items we cannot be expected to supply them"

When asked why they took the money from my account if they did not have any stock to ship the agent responded...

"That was a mistake, Dell normally do not take payment until the goods are ready to ship"

When asked why they were not offering a replacement product instead og the Iomega drive the agent responded....

"We do not have any suitable drives to ship to you"

So there you have it, no drive, cancelled order, money will be refunded, PR disaster for Dell.

mines been pushed to the 28 august as well:

Dear Customer,
The original estimated Delivery Date has changed because of a delay with our suppliers - however we are working to complete your order as quickly as possible.

"Delayed to 28 august"

Please regularly check your Email for up to date information about your order.
Thanks

I've also just got an e-mail with a new estimated delivery date of the 28th August.

"The original estimated Delivery Date has changed because of a delay with our suppliers - however we are working to complete your order as quickly as possible."

Same here.

I wish they'd get a hurry on...
#35
Bahh - cancelled.

Dear Customer,
We are very sorry – we've had an error in our systems, and the product you thought you were ordering was wrongly described on our website. The product code and price of your order related to a completely different product, and was incorrectly linked to the description of the Iomega Hard Disc Drive you requested. In fact, this is a discontinued product and is no longer in stock.

Due to this, your Iomega Order Number: has been cancelled. Within the next 5 working days any pre-authorisation on your credit/debit card will be cancelled and we will refund to your card any money already collected.

To place your order for a different Hard Disc Drive, please go to www.dell.com or talk to your sales agent.

We are sorry for the inconvenience that this error has caused, and thank you again for choosing Dell.
#36
I haven't heard anything else form Dell yet - however, I dont undertsand how they can be givign some people a revised delivery date, while telling other people:

The product code and price of your order related to a completely different product, and was incorrectly linked to the description of the Iomega Hard Disc Drive you requested. In fact, this is a discontinued product and is no longer in stock.

If it was a first come, first served situation, then surely they'd just say that they couldn't get any more stock of the item - not say it was a complete mistake on the listing?
#37
I got the same as a couple of other people:

Internet Receipt Number; [xxxxxxx]

Dear Customer,

Weird,

I just got a call from my Personal Dell account manager, asking if I had canceled my order ?

He has gone to investigate, I did not know about the cancelation email before this call.
#40
Exactly 50 minutes after Dell sent me a new estimated delivery date, they sent me an e-mail cancelling my order!
It's the standard cancelled e-mail that others have received.

Dell have made a right pigs ear out of this!
