Hi, I'm looking to get my 16 yo daughter a laptop and have seen what look like reasonably priced and specced machines at the Dell outlet posted on here. I'm after views & opinions on build quality, customer services, value etc if anyone would care to comment please. Main uses would be schoolwork, surfing, watching movies etc .
I'm loooking at the STUDIO 1535 : INTEL CORE 2 DUO T5750 2.0GHz with 250gb hdd, 2g Ram, 256mb ATi card priced between 365 to 410 delivered. Any thoughts out there?

Hi. Sounds like a good buy to me. Dell PCs/Laptop build quality and control is excellent. I got my PC from them 3 years ago and its still solid not a whimper or fault at all.

Their support is second to none (although the support may seem costly, if you dont know what your doing with PC's then its money well spent), along with their customer service. I'd strongly recommend Dell any day of the week.

i have an older dell inspiron 1300 with 1.73 pentium m

good build quality, not flimsy, very reliable

i would recommend for school etc and probably spend a bit less than what u posted

take your point about the cost, but trying to future-proof a little for around £400 seems a reasonble price...

Hi. Yes, afraid so. Prestige Level 10, Gold Cross, Gold Weapons...or as I like to put it......a No Lifer..lol

am I correct in thinking I can get a cheaper version of MS Office (student licence) somehow?
#10
Yes, there is a version of office that is sold on a student license, however as far as I'm aware (and please feel free to update me on this one folks) but the student license version is simply a form that you must fill in, a voucher type thing that you have to send away with proof that you are a student that qualifies for the student licenced version.

It would be far to easy just to buy the cheapest version now wouldnt it! :-D

Dell suck, well not really but they are a hit and miss company, they are ok built but seem to use cheap parts and not good tech support

However yeah for the average person they are fine, but I wouldnt reccomend a desktop for people who plan on upgrading pc since they arent good for that.

Laptops are slightly better though

BTW Dell outlet mainly sells refurbs.

I am aware of this - the one I ordered was destined for Germany in mid september - guess it was cancelled order in this case - either way the same spec from Dell direct using their configurator came to £550 approx - that's £175 more...

How did you find out the one you bought was destined for Germany?
