got the 177 pound vostro deal from here about a month ago and because it never came with a dvd rw drive i thought i will fit my old one from my old computer.

the dell uses a SATA connection but the old dvd drive uses the old ide connection.
i bought the following adapter from ebay 260504376968 and thought it will allow me to connect it but the power cable doesnt fit the same connection as the dells one.

if anyone knows how to sort this out please let me know.

Which power connector do you need, a four pin molex connector from the Dell's black sata power cable?

Have a look at 280417867914 - I haven't tried one of these but suspect it's what you're looking for

Also before you use the adapter card have you checked your mobo to see if it supports PATA (IDE). On foxcon boards its normally located on the inside edge of the board near the mobo power connector. (you will still need the power connector)
