Just in the process of upgrading the RAM in my computer that I bought via the deal posted on here last January.

Just wanted to ask those out there more computer savvy than I am to help with what sort of RAM I should go for based on the following:

Vostro Desktop 430
Intel Core i7-860 (2.80GHz, 8MB)
Windows 7 Professional 64 BIT
Memory 3GB 1066MHz

All the chat of Dual/Triple Channel sends me into a spin.

Do you ever use more than 3Gb of memory?

If you never use more than 3Gb then adding more memory will not make your laptop go any faster.

Adding more memory when you dont really need it or use it is a waste of money.

The vostro 430 is a desktop PC not a laptop.

I use it for AutoCAD, Illustrator and Photshop, plus I'm running windows 7 64-bit, all heavy on the RAM, hence my enquiry.

I also use it for FlightSim X which is very, very heavy on RAM.

So, I do need to add it and I therefore don't see it as a waste of money.
