I bought a DP to DVI adaptor cable but ATI control center cant see either monitor when connected to this lead.

Might be time to junk the card and fit a better one with 2 DVi ports ;-) but I would like to see this one working.

Not without buying yet another adaptor and it does feel a bit like I'm putting money into the wrong thing here as it really is just a basic card.
Pity Dell got the spec changed as retail versions of this card seem to have 2 DVI ports.

you could probably sell the DP>DVI converter and use that money to buy the HDMI>DVI

thing is, a new card is going to cost more than a converter and if you're just going to do office work on it then the current card will suit your needs perfectly.

whichever way you do get it working check out ultramon http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/

I'd go with the HDMI to DVI route as well, I've used displayport to DVI adapters on Nvidia cards and had no problems with them but not tried them on any ATI cards.

Well I guess the card was faulty as a couple of hrs later it started giving graphics errors then failed completely. So now I am down to using the G45 onboard graphics.

I've not really tried to keep up with the latest cards capabilities but would like to replace it with something that will give me pref 2 x DVI ports and run on a 350 watt psu with reasonable gaming capabilities should I ever want to go kill some bad guys.
Suggestions? ;-)

Good price for that card but it doesnt have dual DVI ports does it? I would prefer that if I am buying another card anyway.
I did look at this for £92 less quidco but I think my PSU may not be up to the task http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/PopupProductDetail.aspx?cs=ukdhs1&l=en&c=uk&sku=A2473638
Someone bought me Farcry2 for Xmas and I am yet to try it out, so something that will handle that at hi res would be good ;-)

Yeah the 8600GT has two dual link DVI ports. I bought two from that deal.

OK just the reply to 1 question on the site said 1 DVI ;-)

Is that a double width card? I'm guessing it does take up two ports.

I bought the 8600GT as its cheap enough for a spare if I dont use it in this pc. Thanks.

I do have a RADEON X850 here that I was using in another pc but its a bit of a beast and may need more than the psu can safely deliver.

8600GT arrived with 2 x DVI ports ;-) Now fitted and working fine with my 2 monitors. Cheers all :)
