Dells awful customer service

So I recently purchased a computer from dell. Ordered it 8 weeks ago and it finally arrived today. However the monitor was missing!!! So rang dell customer service and was put through to 9 different people and was on hold for 38 minutes at one stage! When i was finally put through to the right department was told "we forgot to post it. Monitor will be with you in 28-30 working days". Not even a simple apology! Im not really an angry guy but this cheesed me off. Didnt complain or anything because im not really argumentative. Wanted to know what other people would have said/ done if they were in my shoes.

I'd be a simmering wreck now after arguing with them demanding some sort of compensation and being told I was getting nowt, I'd just have to wait.

Think yourself lucky, at least you're still calm!

I have never had a problem with dell and i have 2 computer's from them.

Was thinking about doing that. It was a call to an 0844 number so must have cost a lot. Was thinking about asking them to cover the cost of the call but dont think they will.

Was the monitor part of the computer or separate? I'd be tempted to buy a monitor now and just return theirs unwanted if you can do it without having to send the rest back.

The monitor came part of the computer. They said it should have arrived with the tower today but they "forgot" to post it. What do you think I should do as I want to get some sort of compensation from this like you said. Tried to speak to the manager but he was away for 2 weeks :?

Call...and ask for them to send someone to pick it up..and that you expect a full refund.
This was a christmas pressy for the whole family and you wont be able to use it at christmas....and that you have just been offered a much better deal from pc world so want to take that.

yes push for the cost of the calls and a discount, think they allowed to gve 20%, you will get it if you push for it

You could try calling them on one of these landline numbers (look for the number you called and find the alternative non-0870 number) and tell them you're really unhappy and that you will send the lot back (when it comes- you can do this under distance selling regs) if they don't make it right with some sort of goodwill gesture.

go with what we have said

the worst thing that will happen is you get your money back and have to look for another deal.
And in the past this has turned into a blessing, as i have often found something better come up

speak to the next in line, tell them u want a screen by the end of the week or you will go else where and they can come and collect the base. you sure are one calm person, i would have been mad, even more so after spending so long on the phone. good luck

Hate dells i have inspiron 1545 that i got for my b day in may and its had
3 black screens
1 blue
and keyboard probs
