I would be interested in knowing what people think of Derren Brown.

Is he a fake and has stooges in the audience

don't know, sorry, he's good to watch and the show he did on stage where he showed you how he did some tricks was pretty good.
#2
some of it is probably genuine but I wouldn't say all of it is.

He's there to entertain at the end of the day and that's what he does.
#3
fake, as with all magician type folks.

Depends what you want to believe, Personally I think hes a great Showman..and a very clever man.

..Pssst no such thing as magic :whistling:
#5
Apparently he uses people in the audience with public social network profiles to get info. E.g facebook status: "betty is enjoying her new cat"

Derren: "I'm predicting you have bought a new cat in the last couple of days"

When I watched him last week I was amazed with the tricks he did, don't know whether he is a fake or not but don't care cause he is entertaining.

I think hes pretty upfront about it all being fake an that he can't REALLY read your mind. I find it very interesting, especially when he explains a bit about how hes done it.

Red Door? Don't think I have ever had a red door.. I however can predict nosebleeds ;-) :-D

He openly admits that it is all fake, and that he CAN'T read minds. Infact, in the show last week, at one point he said"You'll have to speak, i'm not psychic" to an audience member.

It's all just "magic" slight of hand and various other tricks and guises.

He appears to be really clever and is very good at what he does.

Isn't the thing about Derren Brown that he upfront tells you it is a trick. Sometimes he reveals the system used and sometimes he wants to leave a bit of mystery that the public can try to work out.

Kind of a less rude more mindgame version of Penn and Teller.

Yes, that's the whole point. He hates people who call themselves "psychics" or "mindreaders" because there's no such thing.

He's a showman, a very good one. All his stuff is "tricks" and "illusions" which he freely admits. Yes there are sometimes actors used. But ultimately, it's all for show and it makes great TV.

One of the reasons I like him so much is because of his honesty.

he is clearly real, none of his stuff is magic, he is a very smart man, who has studied the human psyche for many years, he picks up on little movements that give things away, he even freely admits to it and tells you about it! watch his shows you will understand

And how would he do that?

If you saw the tv show recently he told people things that no way did they put on sites - I just WISDH I knew how he did it!

I think that is how he does most of it to - but did anyone see the show - how did he read and answer the questions in the black envelopes?!!!

excellent showman, but a lot of it has to be staged

You mean the audience is stooges?

I think its all fake for entertainment only. There is a man in America skeptic magician James Randi who offered a million dollars to anyone who can prove they have special powers. He ran this challenge for ten whole years and not a single person could prove they were genuine. He challenged people like Uri Geller and British psychic Doris stokes. None of them could prove it.

The show that was on tele last week: I went to the tour of that as I'm a fan of his. Some of it is just basic mind tricks and stuff (aka - the monkey taking the banana...it's all about distraction!)

The stuff with the spinning nuts and bolts was really naff - telling people it will swing makes them naturally yet unintentionally swing it.

yet seeing him do the questions at the end is down right mental - I had a question in there the night I saw it but it didn't get picked (during the interval there was a glass bowl which people could put questions in - it was left on stage so everyone could see it and put one in if they wished)

He talks openly about everything in his book and it's actually really interesting to read...plus it has advice and techniques on how to do some of the stuff.

I remember one show where he was guessing a word or letter people were thinking and explained he was looking at the jaw muscles and mouth to pick up the subconscious mouthing of the letters/words.

Probably had a few unsuccessful attempts off camera but was still impressive.
