I am hoping there are a few computer geeks out there who can help me with my little problem namely:- How can I use a " .html " doc as my Laptop Desktop Background (Vista). when Desktop Background only allows pictures.

Use "Print Screen" (above the numbers on keyboard), then paste into Paint. Save it as a jpeg. Then you can use it as a background.

install gadwin printscreen. free tool where you can select the whole or just a part of the screen and in 1 click send it to a printer, a jpeg/bmp, or email it.

XP has an option to go into the Display Properties / Desktop where there's a 'web' tab, allowing you to add a web page to the desktop. I don't use Vista so don't know if it's still there.

Thanks for the suggestions ....but .... the whole point of a ".html" doc as a Desktop Background is to use the screen as a webpage ....... some clever person out there must have found a way round this enigma!!!! :)

Yes, the web option in Display / Desktop properties allows this to happen. You can even set it up to refresh (synchronize) at a regular interval.

EDIT: scrub that idea. MS in their infinite wisdom, removed Active Desktop from Vista....

not sure what you are trying to achieve really. Html would be saved as at a fixed point.

Are you saying you want it to continually update with whatever is on your web browser.

Seems a waste of resources if at all possible and cant see why you would want to do that really.

you can use F11 to enlarge your browser

Thanks for the update ...I was afraid of that .. its good of MS to update a OS by removing stuff ... I was hoping some one had figured a way round it ... ho hum;-)

It's a known fault with Vista (yet another reason why I'm XP until Windows 7 is fully stable):

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925168

Download the KB925168 package inside and see if that resolves the issue.

Isn't really the same thing, but if you just wanted a full screen webpage (without taskbar or address bar) you could press F11.

Vista comes with .NET framework (AFAIK). Check to see if it's installed. If you didn't have it installed, it wouldn't even try to start. .NET Framework is free from Microsoft anyway.

Look on C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\

Look for a foldername called either

v1.1.4322 - for .NET Framework v1.1
v1.0.3705 - for .NET Framework v1.0

Let me know how you get on.
