You plug it into your PC and it makes it wireless.

and a router, presuming you dont have wireless built into your modem.

Right, I will try and explain what I want to do:oops::oops:

I have my desktop pc upstairs and also have a laptop....

My pc upstairs is plugged into the router via a ethernet cable.... The router is just sat on top of the tower and looks cluttered and untidy.....

What I want to do is (if it is possible) is have the router downstairs and still be able to use the pc upstairs without it been plugged into the router (i,e wireless) just like my laptop is.... But obviously the pc is not wireless, and I was hoping it could be made wireless, (if that makes sense)

Hope this makes sense....

An USB Wireless LAN adapter like this should do the trick very nicely. What make/model router do you have?

Well you will be best off with a PCI card. My personal choice at the moment is the Edimax EW-7728IN. You need to check you have a spare PCI (traditional) slot to fit it.

But you could use a usb one like above but they are more prone to being broken as protruding out the case and as they only have one antenna are more directional prone.

It is a good time to start ;) it is really easy and you dont have the wires of the USB stick, and you dont keep knocking it all the time (like i do) lol
here is one

all you will need to do probally is unscrew 2 screws, slide the side off, tkae the little cover off the back, slide the card in and put a screw in to keep it in then slide the side back on and screw it back on, then just install the drivers like you do with the USB version (maybe you might have to put the drivers on first, have to check thatwhen you get it)
