Well i went from hull to dam on p&o ( dfds cant be to different) and they searched everything we had, and suitcase you carry with you any way and they went through the machines. But we didnt take no alcohol with us, but on the way back , no search which i thought was a bit odd. Any way reason we never took any alcohol was that there is a duty free on board and we managed to get 2 litre bottles of smirnoff for £25 so we did this everytime we ran out.
When we got there we stocked up on all types of drinks and we took them on as gifts for family back in uk and shortly after boarding these were also consumed very quickly and in vast quantities.
Check they have a duty free which they should but i cant see much of a problem as we did bring back alot

I went round about this time last year,( freebie from andywedge). I took my own booze, bags did get searched at terminal but my booze was left unscathed (10 bottles of lager and bottle of Jack Daniels). It's about £4.50 a pint on board, you can by crates of lager on board.

A few years ago me and my mate sailed DFDS Newc-Ams and took about 20 cans each in our bags, they were fully searched but they werent bothered that we were carrying alcohol.

How did you get on Darryl?

I took a bottle of jack & some beers, they didnt search us, seemed to be every 10th person or so.

I advise anyone just to take whatever as it shouldnt be a problem, not alcohol but one huge family had a 48 pack of pot noodles, so seems a free for all !
