DGM gone bust, Quidco, Topcashback and cashback sites affected

Dear member,

As you know we do our best to help you earn as much cashback as you can. The cashback you make is passed to us from the merchant you purchased from via an affiliate network provider, we then pass 100% of this on to you. It is therefore with great regret that I have to advise you the Deal Group Media UK Ltd affiliate network (DGM) has ceased trading with immediate effect and all payments made to the network by the retailer will now become a debt to the retailer.

What does this mean for me?
As you have recently purchased from one or more of the merchants below we will not be able to pass on the cashback as we ourselves have not received, nor are we likely to receive payment from the DGM network.

I do appreciate that your transaction shows as received. Unfortunately this is due to an administrative error and your transaction should not have been updated. We have not received a payment from this retailer since December 2009 and we are therefore unable to pass this cashback onto you. Your transaction will revert to its previous validated status.'

Were shocked and disappointed that this has happened to a network. We have only found this news out today and will do all we can to reclaim your cashback, unfortunately on this occasion we dont think well have much joy.

We are now working with the appointed administrators of the network to see what monies may be forthcoming and will keep you informed.

The retailers that are effected by this are:
192.com, Aabro, Accountz, AFA Systems, Ambrose Wilson, Babysecurity.co.uk, BE Broadband, Beauty Expert, Ben 10 Online, Bingo on the Box, Bluestone, Book Direct Rooms,
British Red Cross, Bump to 3, BuyMobilePhones, Car Audio Centre, Cho-Yung, Club Med, Condor Ferries, Costbiter, Decode Car Hire, Demon Internet, Dobbies, Eclipse Internet, Engage Mutual Assurance - Health Cash Plan, engage Mutual Assurance Child Trust,
Engage Mutual Assurance Easy Save, Engage Mutual Assurance Junior Easy Save, engage Mutual over 50's Life Insurance,Equifax,Equifax Free Credit Report,Fashion World,Fifty Plus,Forest Holidays, Forthill Home,Free Orange SIM,Fussie,Gaming Club, Garmin,GIZOO, Gray & Osbourn, Helpucover Income Protection, Helpucover Mortgage Payment Protection,
HelpuCover Pet Insurance, Home Shopping Direct,Hotter Shoes, House of Bath, ITV online shop, Jacamo, JackpotCity Casino, Jacobs Digital, JD Williams, Julipa, Jurys Inn, Lakeland Leather,Lebara Mobile, Machine Mart, Mankind, Marisota, Mazuma Mobile, Merchant 4577, Microwarehouse, MO-Call, National Trust, Naturally Close, New Now, Nickshop, Orange Home & Mobile Broadband, Orange Home Broadband, Orange Mobile Broadband, Parkdean Holidays, PC World Business, PDSA, Perfect Pizza,Petplan, Petplan Equine,
Please&thankyou, Pontins, Premier Man, Red5, RU Books, RU Craft, SeaFrance Ferries,
Siblu Holiday Parcs, Simply Be, Simply Yours, Sleeping Solutions, Snow+Rock, So Bathrooms,
Soletrader, Talkmobile ,Terrys Fabric,The Adventure Company, The Dog House, Toystore.co.uk, Tracesmart, Viking Airlines, Virgin Bingo, Virgin Poker,Viva La Diva,
Vodafone, Vonage, Warner Leisure Hotels, Washbag.com, Webfusion, Whatafind.com,
Whats About Town, WHSmith Mobiles, Wilkinson Plus, Winegifts4U.co.uk

We never like to hide behind terms and conditions but in circumstances like this, we do have to quote from our account holder agreement as follows:

The Quidco Service allows Account Holders to earn referral fees cashback on tracked purchases from Retailers. To qualify for cashback, the Retailer must confirm that the Account Holders purchase is tracked, genuine and successful (constituting a "Qualifying Transaction"), and your resulting referral fee must be received by us (becoming 'Cashback' as a result).

You may see the retailers above remaining on the Quidco site. This is because affected retailers may switch immediately to a new affiliate network and continue with their affiliate business. However, this will not be related in any way to existing transactions and enquiries.

I am very sorry to deliver such bad news to you, but we did want to make you aware of this situation as quickly as possible.

Kind regards,

Dom Butterell,
Head of QuidCare

Quido co were affiliates for DGM. So when you clicked through a quidco link, DGM got paid for the referral from the retailer. DGM then paid quidco taking their cut. Quidco paid you.
DGM have gone, so quidco won't get paid, so you won't. The retailers will all be fine.

Will be interesting to see, if debts are paid at say 10p in the £ if quidco then pays people 10p in the £

See Vodafone is in there too - does that mean we don't get cashback from taking a new contract months ago?
#6
Phew, Eurogrand and O2 not on the list *wipes brow*
#7
Not lost huge amount, couple of £, but annoying when I know I could of used an alternative cashback site
#8

If you haven't got the e-mail i don't think you will be affected. The e-mail is telling those that are that they won't get their cashback.

No haven't had anything - the contract was back in January though and had to wait 90 days or whatever before it would track (which it has) but hasn't been paid yet. Probably lost it now (sad smiley inserted)
#14
I'v also got cash back awaiting from vodafone it just got validated today..but I havnt recieved this e-mail or ticket
#15
It's possible that a different (affiliate) network was used for some of these merchants in the past but I would not be holding out much hope. It'd be nice if quidco clarified this - ie might it be true for some.... and if so that list should have purchase periods attached.

I only stand to lose a few pounds I think (after being tempted back by cashback and vouchers) but feel bad for those who've done everything right only for this to happen.
#16
mine was validated...it says could be as far back as dec 09

Totally agree. Why is it that bad news always arrives at the end of Friday or first thing Saturday? Easy,,,gives you time to cool off over the weekend. Just makes me more annoyed though and gives me time to plan for a Monday phone/email/letter blitz!

Wonder if this is gonna be bad for Quidco? Was it out of their control? The Friday thing always suggests to me that they are expecting flak though....

This bit sounds so suss "I do appreciate that your transaction shows as received. Unfortunately this is due to an administrative error and your transaction should not have been updated."

What if you had seen it as received and paid it out to your bank account? Could they ask for it back?
#19
That is going to hit some people quite badly, I'm pleased I'm with topcashback as I haven't had any emails through from them and I have always found them more reliable than Quidco.
I am staggered with the spelling and punctuation of the letter especially such an important letter from a company as big as Quidco, you would have thought they would have made the effort to get it right.
#20
I thought bitterwallet would've been all over this. maybe they'll have it in next weeks news.
#21
I've lost £1.39. I haven't used Quidco much this year. Have a bit of money sitting around at TopCashBack, and this event has spurred me on, to request a payment.

That does seem a bit sus to me.
Shows as received then suddenly its an error!

Has anyone had any cashback from those retailers since december?

Nearly £250 tied up in a couple of vodafone contracts I put through for family.

Bad times.

Still you gotta remember you would have got nothing without quidco anyway.

Actually one of the contracts was through topcashback. Hopefully they used a different affliate, but I doubt it.

VB1 thanks you for reading this post.

I hope you will continue to read my posts later

Goodbye for the time being.

You have to also question why quidco didn't pull DGM retailers from the site if they haven't been paid since December. A little research shows that DGM were bouncing cheques a while back and pretending they had BACs problems last week. IMHO Quidco should have put a warning on the site saying 'use these retailers but you might not get paid.'

Or maybe they will keep quiet considering the people who run bitterwallet also run this site and quidco.

If it was topcashback though...

I'd have thoguht with their inside knowledge of this they'd have been all over this quicker than their usual 2 day news delay (while they're out finding bags of burst chips to moan about).

Surely they wouldn't ignore something that would affect so many in the hukd community.

Surely not.

I dont think they are allowed to malign any of Admins business concerns.
#31
Wow. Some people have taken quite hit. I nearly always use TopCahBack now. Just one recent Quidco transaction so luckily only a couple of quid lost.
#32
I doubt TopCashBack will be any safer. This affiliate network didn't 'belong' to QuidCo. Loads of sites will be affected. Given that most retailers are only on 1 or 2 of these so-called 'affiliate networks' I wouldn't be surprised if TopCashBack and most other cashback sites (even including sites like nectar?) were affected and just haven't had the decency to tell you yet! I suppose that someone like nectar could just give out the points but if TopCashBack is affected I doubt they'll pay out either.

As for money being taken back from your bank account? No, QuidCo only ever actually pay you the money if they've been paid it already so there's no danger of that ever happening.

I just found an interesting post on the internet from 15.10.09 @ http://www.affiliates4u.com/forums/m...-vodafone.html

It looks as though Vodafone ceased using DGM by December last year, so hopefully any cashback earned this year will still be paid. Or have I got this completely wrong?:

New Affiliate Network Arrangements for Vodafone
Earlier this year, Vodafone held a network pitch involving all major UK networks. Frequent evaluation of suppliers is Vodafone’s strategy across all agencies and we are keen to see that our campaign is driven forwards by industry-leading partners over the course of the next year.

Vodafone will be continuing to run dual network. We would like to offer a warm welcome to TradeDoubler, who won the pitch and will be beginning to work with us. Congratulations also go to Affiliate Window, who very successfully retained their position.

Key dates

Vodafone launches on TradeDoubler: Monday 19th October

Programme closed to new traffic on DGM: Thursday 19th November

Cookie sales honoured on DGM until: Saturday 19th December

Any affiliates currently working through Affiliate Window will not be affected. Please note that this gives affiliates working through DGM 30 days to move their links to either TradeDoubler or Affiliate Window.

Funnily, other affiliates are saying they were paid in May by them and are only missing Junes payment

No doubt quidco will show proof they haven't been paid for 6 months whereas others have

here

So payments were showing as received through quidco, and now DGM have gone under, suddenly it was an admin error. Quidco haven't had a payment since December, yet others have.
Hmmmmm
