DHL Delivery ? Help!

Hi,

On sunday i ordered a laptop online. Because my old laptop broke and i go traveling for 3 months on Thursday i paid extra for "within 2 working days delivery"

So nervously i kept refreshing the DHL status page in hope for good news, and it started promising.

On monday the following status was added:

Departed Depot 10/01/11 16:46 HATFIELD TERMINAL
Arrived At Depot 10/01/11 16:43 HATFIELD TERMINAL
Parcel data received awaiting coll. 10/01/11 NORTHAMPTON SERVICE CENTRE .

So far so good, at least the ball is roling.

To my surprise the same night i got another update:

Arrived At Depot 10/01/11 23:44 MANCHESTER TERMINAL

Brilliant i thought, they are working overnight!

This morning at 09:54 it arrived at Aberdeen service center. Since i live in Aberdeen, i was pretty happy/ exciting. I paid the extra money and by the looks of it it will pay off. Plenty of time to deliver i thought.

Arrived At Depot 11/01/11 09:54 ABERDEEN SERVICE CENTRE

But no, nothing. I waited and waited but no further status update or delivery. I stayed home all day, but nothing.

To my surprise, another update just came online:

In Transit 11/01/11 ABERDEEN SERVICE CENTRE

Without a time added. What does this mean? Surely it is to late for a delivery, and since i live in Aberdeen city center, where can it be going?

Does anyone knows what "in transit" means? And can i expect my laptop before thursday (i.e tomorrow) ?

I have no experience whatsoever with DHL.

No they wont deliver this time of day. The same question has been asked elsewhere & here you will see the answer. I think compensation ought to be in order :

I had good hope again this morning as at 09:45 there was a status update:

Out for delivery 12/01/11 09:45 ABERDEEN SERVICE CENTRE

:) After a full day at the aberdeen service center, it seems its on its way to me!

But again.. So far nothing.. I waited inside all day, didnt leave the leave the house for a second, didnt play loud music or whatever so i could always hear the doorbell (knock in this case).
I got a little bit angry when around 5 i check the trackingg system and suddenly saw the following status had appeared:

Consignee Cannot Be Reached 12/01/11 09:45 NULL ABERDEEN SERVICE CENTRE

What does this mean?!?! Ive been checking the tracking system costantly throughout the day, and nothing changed, until around 5 all of a sudden that status came up ?!

Ive been home all day.. my phone next to me etc. No way i missed a delivery, or does it means something else?

With that i tried to phone DHL about this, i spend 20 pounds i i didnt get any further then their anoying "we are busy someone will be with you soon" tune for 2x 10 min!

Anyone knows what it actualy means? consignee cannot be reached?

They couldn't find your house (didn't have time to deliver)
Give them a ring and make sure it is delivered correctly tomorrow
#7
They have my phone number..
And its updated at 5 o'clock. They deliver until 9... So not having the time is a bit odd no? since thy still have e few hours to deliver. That they cant find it seems nonsense aswell. There are DHL vans 3x times a day in here.

I tried phoning them.. and lost 20 pounds in the waiting line..

did you get this sorted hun?
#9
i topped-up another 10 pounds and try to ring them.. But for 12 minutes long nobody picked up, and then my credit was gone again.

One more status update btw:
Parcel returned to delivery depot 12/01/11 ABERDEEN SERVICE CENTRE

So it does look like its been in a delivery van all day, but the driver apparently was to lazy to ask for my flat at the main building or have a proper look around. They do have my tel. no so they could have phoned me aswell..

paid extra to get it sorted before i leave, but doesnt seem like its going to work.

Any suggestions? Gonna call again tomorrow morning in the hope that they can deliver tomorrow :(

Blimey sod that. Did you not try say no to 0870 ??
#11
Maybe pick it up from the dhl depot ?
#12
Tried say no to 0870 (after spending the first 20 pound, never heard of it before). The number i wanted to ring, was closed after 17:00. After ringing the main switchboard they give me another number that i could ring that was still open.. of course a 0844 one.

And since i'm leaving tomorrow evening, i didnt want to take any risk on missing it so i spend another 10. But unfortunately, no one picked up.

Anyone knows were the depot is? An whether you can pick up every package or only certain ones?

Little bit **** off about it tbh, i know it was a risk but i was hoping that paying extra for quick delivery would pay off. You guys think if i call them tomorrow at 9 they can still get it sorted? I dont know how DHL work, do drivers have mobiles on them etc. ?

yeah could have looked that up myself realy. Going to give them (another) ring in the morning in the hope they can deliver it, or maybe i wont take a chance and take a bus to the depot.

Don't know if you can just walk in and ask for your parcel?
#15
well you can but pretty much a waste of time if it is out for delivery with a driver.
Check the website and ring or, go to the depot late in the day
#16
Delivered today :) 30min after a phonecall to Aberdeen Depot.
Wont get the extra money i spent back, but hey, im happy i got it!

Thanks for our replies, now, zanzibar it is ;)

I am pleased you got yours; not so lucky in my experience.
DHL "lost" my netbook on 21/12/10 and after numerous calls I have had to get a refund from the seller (argos outlet on ebay). I called DHL at least 4 times and each time they promised to call me back with an update - never happened yet. Item was logged as arriving at their warehouse but I presume some thieving git had it away.

Was intended as a christmas gift. :(
