what happens to the diameter of the hose where the child is standing on it??

i dont know the answer thats the question im wanting an answer for as i dont have a clue

the diameter of a hose garden hose that we use, if a someone stands on it what would happen to the diameter of it???

The diameter of a circle is the stright distance through the center and touching two points on its edge. If the hose is squashed, the distance is changed!

i would say the diameter no longer exists is probably the answer they are looking for as diameters belong to circles and if it is squashed it is more like an oval or just a line?

Dear lord.

Stop trying to cheat, go back to your course notes, and figure stuff out for yourself. It's not difficult, and it's only confusing if you haven't paid attention to your materials. You need to learn, not cheat to make it look as if you have. Google to find out up what diameter is, and you'll understand to know the answer for yourself.

The diameter of the hose only applies when it's "unsquashed", i.e. when it's a circle, the diameter is the same regardless of where the straight line starts/ends, as long as it passes through the centre. When the hose is squashed, the length of the striaght line will vary depending on where is starts, so there is no set diameter. Dunno if that makes sense to you, it does to me!!!

If the hose is hard and remains a circle, the diameter doesn't change obviously.
Otherwise, it becomes an ellipse which has major diameter and minor diameter, major diameter will be greater than the unsquashed hose diameter and minor diameter less.
