Did anyone get an iPod Touch from O2 in the offer in May last year?

There was a long thread on here where O2 were shifting iPod Touches, 16 was £125 and 8 gig was about £100.

Just tried to get mine fixed at an Apple store and been told 'No way. This was sold in 2007 and is well out of guarantee'.

So I wiped out the till receipt and showed them that. And guess what? The serial number on the receipt (I didn't know it was there) isn't the same as the one on the iPod and the box!

Just called the store and the manager AND and assistant manager are both on day off today (how do these people run their stores?). The supervisor's 'looking into it, with the back office'.
The guy at Apple said he's come across stores who sell all their stock with the same serial number because it save having to scan every box ! Well great...

So if you got one last year, check that you're ipod, box and receipt match !

I thought the warranty began from the moment you first activated the touch in itunes, and the serial number is recorded direct from the touch by apple?

you shouldnt need a receipt-apple should easily be able to tell the first date it was activated on and tha warranty begins from that day,not the day of purchase. what If I buy one now for a present and give it sealed in 3 months time? that doesnt mean the person I give it to only has 9 months warranty.

apple are having you on m8.

The system in the Apple store has it first registered in June 07 !

So I'm guessing O2 sold it, had it back and sold it again (as new). In which case I'm going roast them.

No call back from the O2 store of course...

thats the only explanation-it must have been activated in itunes so they sold you second hand goods as new.
