It's £17.50 to update it.

I'd check your photo's expiry date...!!!

Yet another way for the gvmt to make money!!! Within 10yrs im sure it'll all be digital like the new HGV tachographs...

They'll know where you are, have been and what speeds you were doing getting there...

Or the national ID Card which will have everything linked to it... Who knows...

But whatever they choose, Its going to be the one which produces the most revenue!!

I think they would find it very difficult to prosecute anyone for this. Especially if they had not been warned previously.
Good to know though

Yep, That's the way were going, Not sure how long photo licence's have been about as I past my test in 2004.

Wonder how many people have or will be fined for having an expired photo?

not necessarily, but you've just given your age away

It's not the photo that expires after 10 years, it's the entire licence AFAIK. We've had photo licences over here for years now, it's a great way of the government introducing a photo ID scheme without actually introducing a photo ID scheme IYKWIM

As has been said, don't worry about the expiry. The DVLA will send you a reminder.

I have just received my first photo driving licence. It was stuck onto an A4 sheet. The actual licence is a nice handy credit card size, ideal to put in your wallet or purse.

But hang on! WTF is this? It says "Important" - you have to leave the nice little card stuck to the whacking great A4 sheet and produce them both if required!

So, I have to fold up this A4 sheet and carry it with me, besides the little plastic licence. Which bright spark came up with that?

Clearly the little plastic licence is another requirement of our masters in Brussels, the EU. It's got their logo in the corner, not our national flag. And because this government is bloody useless and can't come up with anything sensible, we also have to carry the A4 sheet.

You couldn't make it up. :x

You don't have to take either with you. Keep them together in a draw at home.

All well and good until you want to travel and stay elsewhere.

We often spend weeks away from home with friends. So, we would have to take all this cr#p with us, to avoid having to travel all the way back home again to get it should we be unfortunate enough to have to produce our licence.

It would be no problem if we only had to produce the credit card size plastic one - we could easily carry that in our wallets or purses.

Like I said, the work of idiots!
