right o.... its time to burn....some calories... gonna start attempt 1073 to lose loadsa weight and be pre pregnancy weight (a good 3 stones...boo!!)

the following diets worked well with me: weight watchers and paul mckenna

not so well: slimming world and slim fast

thing is i would prob go back to paul mckenna if anything... but was wondering if there was anything else... i reckon ww and PM work well as u are not restricted on any food types?

anyways my question is what works / worked wel for u? thanks

you have to change your way of eating for ever, not just till you lost the weight, so say im going to eat healthier, rather than im on a diet :-)

Never diet!! as soon as i think im on a diet i want/havetohave/willdieifidontget chocolate crisps chips sweets... lol

I have never tried any sort of slimmers world/slim fast/weight watchers type stuff

What worked well for me was just counting calories and keeping to a set amount each day (depending on how quick you want to lose it/how much you have to lose). I kept it as healthy as I could, but didnt restrict any food as that just makes you want it more. I ate more fruit and vegetables because they were low in calories and filling.

I lost 5 stone while on tablets that actually make you gain weight, drs were impressed as I had done it all myself and lost weight instead of gaining it.

i agree ur right it should become a lifestyle change..but lets be realistic.... i need a kick up the butt first..thiat why paul mckenna was so good..its changing the WAY u eat not WHAT u eat... hmm.. yeah might stick with that

Also, dont aim your calorie amount too low, not only is it unrealistic and you will be more likely to stop the diet, but your metabolism will also slow down. Supposed to aim for around 1400 a day if you want to lose weight, but alter this depending on how much exercise you do and stuff

my body has had mire than its fair share of choccies!!! :oops: will revert back to skinny cow fudge ice lollies...yumm and less than 100kcal. an awesome treat

Will do you the world of good and also prepare your body for adjusting to eating more healthily,or even RAW if you really want to change your life/world :-D

haha fasting...sorry im muslim so just did a month of fasting and GAINED loads...but then the fasting we do means we stuff ourseleves in the night and the day when we CAN eat.... really dont wanna be without food.... u got stamina!

Thanks, I was around 800 a day to begin with (ate plenty but it was all fruit and veg, and only 0cal drinks) because of the medication I really need to kick start it. Wouldnt recommend starting that low though. Increased it to between 1000 and 1200 a day. If I hadnt had that amount (some days I didnt!) I would have a biscuit or something to get it up to that, so that my metabolism didnt slow down.

slimming world worked for me a few years ago, cos i love my food, and love the flexibility of the diet. used to save all my sins for vodka at the weekend :)

low carb is working for me at the mo........... and considering i was a pasta bread crisp junkie, i am pretty proud of myself !



at the end of the day...........its all a state of mind, IMHO. and you can only succeed if YOU want to.



On a lighter note.............the Gin and Tonic diet is good...........drink enough of it, and you lose.......................days! :)

Well I have really poor health and am limited to how much I can move around the house, never mind real exercise!

I would recommend around 1400-1500 calories a day if you are doing exercise, should give you a steady weight loss, which is how you want to lose it because you will be more likely to keep it off

Best thing I learnt is how many calories are in drinks! I usually have 1 glass of pure fruit juice now and the rest of my drinks are no calories (water/flavoured water/diet drinks). Didnt drink tea/coffee/alcohol anyway

Lol diets are ****, eat regularly without stuffing yourself.
Get urself a heart monitor and learn to burn fat with it. 1 month of regular 30 min jogs wil make u look better than u could of hoped for.

YS: love ur idea.... haha.... but dont drink ... but if i did... hehe!! hubby did a carb free diet..he looked aweome at end and cousins wife did really well on that...but i dont like meat...so... id be a bit stuck! see how rubbish i am... dunno wy i asked for advice.. ill prb stick with PM!

4site..hey mate! how u doin?! yeah gonna go for a full membership at gym so can go gym n evenings instead of sitting there stuffing face .... know excersice really tones up body and makes clothes fit so well... love the body combat classes i do.. but havent done them since beginning of summer... first one back is on monday...can see me dying. defo agree..stuffing face is bad.... but thats what i did this summer... slap my writs....

nikki....WW works really well but have tried to get back on it loadsa times since and failed.... weird... good luck with u losin before party season.. i lost a bit before sis weddng this summer,,and looked good... but then .... wham...stufed face.hey ho.... !

Your better off just eating sensibly and doing some exercise.

Even if you lose weight while on a diet, unless you stick to that diet forever, your likely to put the weight back on when you start eating normally again.

I lost just over 2st in 13 weeks at Slimming World - then Ramadan begun and my weight lost abruptly slowed and then went back up 5lbs!

Been tyring to get back on track since yesterday (after major Eid blowout) but failing so far

*goes off to look for 'crying' smiley*

ten years ago when i was thirty :thumbsup:
i did it with weight watchers and the one thing that helped me more than anything

was a simple piece of paper and a pen

writting down anything and EVERYTHING that passes your lips is an amazing tool

snack and munchkin wise i used to fall back on 2 things
one was ... veg stew .... zero points and a tummy filler
two was... carrs water biscuits and laughing cow light cheese triangles

wow...well done u!!! thats AMAZING! i did well on WW a few years ago but then had ramazan and everything goes outta window... i always tel myself i wil open fast sensibly but never do! hence the state im in

anyways a 5lb gain isnt that bad.. better than a stone i gained over summer!
