Hi there,

Just wondering whats the difference between the jailbreak softwares? I'm new to this and I've seen like greenpoison, lime-something and snow-someting (cant remember their names).

Can someone enlighten me on the difference? And also jailbreak is just so that u can access cydia right? Which is like the app store but for hacked softwares?

Regards

The various names are just different exploits for jailbreaking an iphone. The jailbreak community has loads of people working to exploit loopholes in the Apple software and the results are given different names to distinguish them. They work in different ways and are usually specific to the different iphone/ipods available eg 3G, 3G S, 2nd gen ipod etc. So Limera1n, sn0wbreeze, greenp0ison etc are exploits for jailbreaking (and in some cases unlocking) for iphone/ipod.

Yes, jailbreaking allows you to install Cydia and opens up the ability to install custom (and/or hacked) software and apps.

oh and also - if u use cydia/jailbreak - can u still sync your iphone and the apps downloaded etc?

Yes. There's really no downside. You can just do everything you always could do and more with a jailbroken iphone.

I was wondering if there is a site/ place where I can download apps for free? For example plants vs zombie which needs to be bought from the app store - can i get it elsewhere for free and does my phone need to be jailbroken to dl/open those apps?

You'll have to add installous as a source via cydia. Google it. Yes, your phone needs to be jailbroken.

Basically, installous is like a torrent app. People buy apps, crack it, then upload it to share with everyone else - and yes, it is all free. All you have to do is add the source on cydia, then download installous.

Stupid question alert -

If you jailbreak does it unlock it? My dad is due an upgrade and is going to give me his 3g. Will need to unlock so I can put my t-mobile sim in. Would there be any issue with using my current sim? Unlimited internet etc.

/stupidness

If you jailbreak, you can download different things off cydia to help you unlock. I think i used ultrasn0w. As long as you turn 3G off when you unlock, it should still work.

Presumably an 02 sim will be needed to do the jailbreak and unlock
