mostly it is build quality, but usually XPS have latest bits due to it being expensive.

Vostro is aimed more at business customers, whereas Inspiron are for home users.

Vostro laptops are excellent quality and value for money.

so which is the better out of the two?

Vostro would be my choice, as they would have more value for money.

oh, and i been watching the inspirons

Inspirons are very good also, thats what I have at home. But I was able to get a mate a Vostro with far better spec for the same price that I paid for the Inspiron.

Which laptops are you thinking on choosing from?

i have a vostro..turion 64x2 vista-was £329 i think less quidco. I am really happy with it as it was ready to go out of the box. Never had a problem with it. I think the Vostro is just maybe heavier and more solid. Its also not as attractive as other laptops.

If she is looking for pink then you will definitely have to go for the Inspiron :-D.

I will send you a pm in a while with some info if you are going to buy one and how you may get it cheaper.

The Dell Vostro 1000 is really an Inspiron that has been spray painted black :).

I'm not sure if they sell it anymore?

I bought a Vostro desktop for someone else, it was okay but I found it to be a little basic.

thanks, have been keeping an eye on them, but to be honest once you get to a decent spec they start becoming pretty expensive x
