Has anyone any experiences of the bed and breakfast and dinner option at Butlins,

Strangely it was cheaper for us to take this option than self catering :?

Just wondered if anyone can tell me what times you have to eat, range of food etc?

thanks

Watch an episode of Redcoats? :whistling:

Can I ask what package deal/offer you're taking?

Don't have an answer to the food question I'm afraid Lou, but you may find the reason for self catering being more expensive is the ongoing maintenance of the appliances & cleaning of the kitchen/eating areas against being able to bulk buy & cook the provided food....

We went to Minehead in May and stayed in Gold Half Board.

Being in Gold meant that you ate in the Yacht Club which felt more relaxed.
Everything was nearly self service (Aka pile the plate, your on holiday:thumbsup: ) with exception to the "main" dish. Now I found the food to be ok, to a point. Sometimes bland but peoples tastes vary.
My wife on the other hand struggled to have a decent meal each night. The Salad bar was, I think, the worst part for her.
My son was the biggest worry as he is a complete nightmare in eating terms but we did find food for him each night (Normal junk stuff available though he does not like chips:w00t: ).
Ice Cream was on tap so that was my Son and me catered for :-D
Breakfast was ok, being the same each day so for me no real complaints.

I did find that if you looked next door where everybody else was being catered for in Standard and Silver accommodation, then it just felt "School dinner hall" type of place.

Question for me now is would I go again?
I think I would try another location as Minehead (Butlins not the place) did not feel right but only if I had enough clubcard points to pay with and only to keep my boys entertained. I would also stay in Gold or "deluxe" as the Standard/Silver accommodation is a waste of money with plenty of people having moan while we were there.

Must try Haven next...

Hi, we went once at skegness and it was fab. Stayed in deluxe accomodation and had the half board option. Breakfast was great and evening meal was lots of choice and as much as you wanted.

I have had bed breakfast and dinner option at butlins.LIke you said it was cheaper for us to do that, strangly enough. The food sufficed. Was plentyfull, kids enjoyed it and it took the strain out of having to cook on holiday. I would recommend it.The ONLY downfall was you HAD to be in the eating hall between certain times in order to get your food.

Dunno bout Butlins but Haven used to be great, self service, eat as much as you want etc.

Then they got outside catering in and they give tiny portions, soggy chips burnt toast.

Probably different in Butlins though(man I cant believe they got rid of the good Butlins and replaced them with second rate Haven)
