Directions to the Pleasure Beach

I'm about to make my first visit to the Pleasure Beach since I was little, so my knowledge of the place has faded a little since I was last there.

I shall be arriving via Blackpool North station (it's a free journey to here so I can't change this), what is the easiest/cheapest way to get the Pleasure Beach from here? I've tried Googling but all I can seem to establish is that the station is a) nowhere near the tram system, and b) at the other end of the town. Are there any bus services that will go directly to the Pleasure Beach from the station?

Hi

I'm not from Blackpool but have visited it many times.

Blackpool North station is only about a 5 minute walk to the promenade this is The Tower end.

You have many options from there
jump on a tram, horse and carriage, taxi, bus, swim if its warm enough...lol

Or do what i do is walk, it is quite a good walk about a mile but there is plenty to look at on the way

Hope this helps

yes... there are buses that go to the pleasure beach .... the bus station is a 5 min walk from the station infact when you come out of the station the bus station is nearly opposite just across the road or you could walk straight past the bus station and continue down dixon towards the promenade (about 10 mins walk ) there you will be able to catch a tram ... hope this helps have you taken advantage of the £10 ride all day wrist band i posted? :)

It did help, thank you.

I have indeed taken advantage of that. In fact, I've coupled it with the free Transpennine Express train tickets, taking me from Manchester to Blackpool North. A bargain day out courtesy of hotukdeals.com.

I shall probably take a tram after reading the advice, I used to love them when I was little.

Just jump on a tram. Or walk halfway and if you get sick (which you won't if it's your first walk as there really is plenty to keep you entertained along your way) you can just jump on the next tram that goes by if you get tired or sick. (Well at the tram stop anyhow).

JUST DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THE AUCTION HOUSE HALFWAY DOWN. THEY ARE CONMEN!!! IT LOOKS GOOD AT FIRST BUT THEY HAVE A VERY GOOD PLAN IN CONNING PEOPLE INTO THINKING THEY ARE GETTING SOMETHING WORTH 5+ TIMES IT'S VALUE THEY ARE SELLING IT AT!!

Yes Dean it is probably the best route to just walk to the seafront and catch a tram.As you come out of the station look towards the sea,10 mins tops walk, you can't miss it:-D

The trams off season are approx every 15-20 mins, though they may put a few extra on during the weekend because of the winter weekend deals. If you just meander down the prom, weather permitting of course(we do sometimes get rain and a slight breeze!) just keep your eye out for the next tram that comes along, cheaper fare that way too,you may walk to the next fare stage. This is HUKD after all;-)

The main thing is to have a great time,I sincerely hope you do,and will keep my fingers crossed that the weather is good:thumbsup:

That's what I tell my kids "We will walk until the next tram arrives" By the time it does we have reached the Pleasure Beach.... job done :)

Can you expand on the conmen?

Nah, they just have little shops and "auction" things off. Probably either off the back of a lorry or fake goods, but either way - you think you're getting a bargain.

I remember the good old days where you'd pile in and they'd lock the doors. ;-)

I sometimes still watch them, just for entertainment value. lol.

You forgot to mention the conplants as well, con-plants! members of their family that get the crowd into a frenzy by saying they would buy some and get the masses into hysteria. I caught one girl one day doing it and in the 2nd show I asked her in a loud voice what she had done with the stuff she bought earlier:thumbsup: she looked at me as if I was mad, then I announced that she was in on the act, well everyone around me scarpered :giggle: I took my hint and promptly left :whistling:
