I bought an Ariston. Yeh i know it is a cheap model, but had good energy rating and I thought I wouldnt use it much.
I was right as in little over a year it stopped discharging the water so became a rather more expensive kitchen ornament.

I have a Bosch - have had it for over 4 years, since my hotpoint caught fire - no covered elements and plastic knife fell onto them - make sure elements are covered, I think they all are now but just in case

make sure the racks inside are wide enough for something like a pasta plate, some are quite skinny. I am talking the bottom rack. You willl love having a dishwasher I love mine.

I had a bosch one that was brilliant but I moved house and got an Indesit one which is just ok, it can leave a gritty residue on cups and glasses.

My Indesit has been running for 12+ years. It does sometimes leave grit - but (with mine) that's because I need to top up the salt. They don't all last that long, obviously, but I've been more than happy with it, since it was a basic and fairly cheap model, and hasn't needed any attention in all that time.

Hope I haven't just jinxed it ...

I have replaced my 14 year old Zanussi machine today. It was the first thing I bought when I moved into my current home. It has performed flawlessly for all these years but last night the spring that provides counterbalance to the main door finally coroded through. I don't know if Zanussi machines are still as good so didn't hesitate to buy a replacement in Ikea today. It is their top of the range integrated machine reduced from £399 to £194-50. It is made for Ikea by Whirlpool and is triple A rated. I found two in the 'Casualty' section in Southampton. A mate said there were two in the Croydon branch last Sunday.

Best of luck with your purchase.:-D

Looks like I am now in the market for a new dishwasher, my Bosch one definitley on it's way out. Not that old really.

My Zanussi tumble drier is still going well after 25 yrs, AND nothing ever replaced on it.
