1 year warranty of my refurbished laptop from Dixons is running out and it has given me some problems so want to extend it. But I am unable to find any warranty extension link on their website. Any suggestions how can I get it done? or do I have to go to Currys?
Thanks

a friend of mine bought a refurbished laptop from pc world just about under a year ago and summit went wrong with it with about 1 month for the guarantee to expire, he sent it to them and they replaced it with a BRAND NEW laptop with much better specs provided he paid £50.00 extra so he bloody did, straight away, without looking back. Just sayin, and am not givin you any ideas. So dont tamper with it in any such way that they cant tell you messed with it.

Dixons coverplan support. You can buy it within a year from purchasing your product. ................mixed reviews.

I am sure there must be cheaper options available.

whatever Happens is slightly better than coverplan in that for laptops you have a monthly option for both premium and standard cover, aswell as the 3 and 5 year options.

the premium will get you next day callout at a time to suit you, if you book before 3pm.
a loan laptop while yours is away
the offer of remote assistance if you're one a broadband connection, incase the problem can be fixed that way.
10 day cutoff time. so if your laptop hasnt been repaired and returned after 10 days, you can request a write off.
you'll get vouchers to choose an equivalent spec machine.
if there is none, they'll go higher and try to match as best they can.

the rate at which computers turnover instore is 12 weeks.
so if you've had your computer more than say 6 months, you might not get vouchers to the same value as you originally paid, but it'll certainly be enough to get something better or equivalent to what you had.

see a lot of people assume that if they spent £1100 on a tv, 4 years ago and it goes wrong, they should get £1100 back to spend.
not taking into account depreciation of the existing product and the fact that a current equivalent or better, may indeed be cheaper than your original.
think back 5 years and how much LCD and Plasma tvs went for.
now look at how the prices have tumbled, for better spec machines

I would say your friend was lucky enough. I have sent this laptop twice for fan overheating problem and everytime Techguys says they have cleaned it and applied some heat paint etc.and is working alright.
