Renting one for the weekend is the same as buying a relatively ok one so i need to find the cheapest available! Anything less then £80

It has to cut wood planks 6 x1 (inches)

most ive found only go up to 5 inches

It can be as rubbish as you like as i only need it for one large job.

Any ideas or diy entusiasts with other ideas, oh and before anyone posts a pic of a 99p saw, - - i have to make about 700 cuts and my arms wont be able to do that!

Thanks

Surely if its just for one job you would be better off hiring? Look for tool hire in your Thompson/Yellow Pages and see who is in your local area and what they have, they tend to have much higher quality machines than what you are likely to get from Argos ;-) You might have a local HSS... Thing is the machine you are renting will be markedly better than a £80 machine so will make your work easier.

Also featured is a 254mm diameter TCT blade with a maximum cutting depth of 300mm for thicker materials.

I think its to do with it having a 254mm diameter blade that can cut 300mm as the blade is fixed at the middle the cut depth really cant be anymore than the radius which is half the diameter in fact slightly less as the fixings would get in the way!

It's a sliding blade, It will cut 75mm x 300mm

So the cutting depth is 75mm not 300. Example...
