dmhkcore.exe - what is this?

My daughter had a Samsung NC10 netbook for christmas, and recently when I log in an error message appears saying "dmhkcore.exe has encpountered a problem and needs to close." It gives me an option to send a report sayings "Please tell Microsoft." I have searched on the internet and it says that the file could potentially be harmful and to run their recommended scan to check. I am a bit worried about this thinking I may add another problem if the download sites are not safe and add another problem ontop! Can anyone please recommend or have advice on whats best to do? Thanks in advance.

That.

Quick rule of the internet: If any website ever advises you to download its software, it's probably up to no good.

Edit: Which doesn't actually solve your problem. Thing to do is to either uninstall or get an updated version of Easy Display Manager. Personally, I'd just uninstall it.

A lot of these "dodgy" web sites say ANY file can be harmful.

They just want you to run a scan with their software, so they can "pretend" they have found 250 problems and ask you to pay £39.99 (or whatever) to fix them all.

Seems you may need to update Samsung Easy Display Manager

See here.

p.s I note their link to the file does not work but you should be able to find it on the Samsumg Support web site.

Try here. Select the "Downloads" tab, then Software, then see Easy Display Manager
