I want to buy a JVC TV from Dixons but in the description it doesn't mention that it comes with a guarantee or anything... Where-as another site that's selling the same model TV does mention a free 1-year guarantee (though the tv is a lot more expensive on that site). Can anyone tell me if they give a 1-year guarantee as standard, hence them not mentioning it? Don't want to risk buying from them if they don't, as I'm purchasing it online for a relative!

Faulty goods
The following are guidelines. Wherever possible we will respond to your individual circumstances.

If there is a fault with your product within 12 months of delivery (or other defect with your order), we will normally offer a prompt repair, exchange or refund. You will always have the option of an exchange or refund if the fault occurs within 28 days of delivery. In all cases we reserve the right to inspect the product and verify the fault.

To qualify for a refund or exchange the product must be:

in otherwise "as new" condition; and
complete with any accessories and free gifts offered with it and, if possible, the original box and packaging.
Please phone Aftersales on 0844 561 1111 (9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday). If a fault occurs while you are abroad, please contact us after you return to the UK.

This promise does not cover faults caused by accident, neglect, misuse or normal wear and tear. For consumable items (e.g. non-rechargeable batteries, camera films, ink cartridges etc) the guarantee period is three months from delivery.

If a pre-recorded videotape, DVD, CD, minidisc or other software is faulty under guarantee we will happily exchange it for the same title or offer a refund.

Any refund due to a fault or other defect will include a refund of the applicable delivery charge. We will also pay for our costs of collecting goods for replacement or refund. Replacement goods are sent by standard delivery only (i.e. premium services are not available).

^what do you mean? are they well-known for being difficult when it comes to faulty goods? :?

Ohh and thanks for the replies, I think I'll go ahead with the purchase.

They have been known to refer you directly to the manufacturer after the first month. Legally it is up to them in the first year but it can be a hassle getting them to admit to that.

I always avoid DSG and comet etc unless they are significantly cheaper then everywhere else.

If it's ever faulty NEVER ever accept a repair. If you do, you'll more than likely find the fault will come back after they repair it. Once you accept a repair, you lose a lot of your legal rights. Get exchange or refund instead.

It depends after how long it breaks, the only choice may be a repair as it's too late to reject the goods you're stuffed.

You cannot refuse a repair under normal circumstances.
