My lovely cavalier king charles spaniel isn't very well & the vets (companion care @ pets at home) make you pay for treatment upto £350 instead of the £50 excess on our policy & then make you claim it back :-(
do all vets do this now?

we've been with them since we got her as a pup 4 years ago & have never needed to use our policy before, it just seems unfair that we have to pay upfront & wait to claim back as with car insurance you just pay the excess...
think i might change soon to a smaller practice as it seems unfair to me :-( we never see the same vet twice there really anyway

mine doesn't, they deal with Petplan directly

Mine was the same but my parents who i use now claim direct but its a village vet and my folks have to buy meds every week and they tagged my dog to their account but i can imagine a lot of vets having new customers then doing a runner and not paying

just goes to show it's not worth going to a vets that are a big chain :x getting really fed up with them now.. waiting for an appointment to be booked as they've said to me she needs treatment urgently or she may die & the stupid receptionist won't book an appointment until she's spoken to the vet

that's really bad :x

when I moved I kept the same vet even though have one 5 mins away, he's so lovely and his wife sells eggs and home-made jams in the surgery too, all organic and cheap

when I had money problems when I was younger he let me pay in instalments too :)

i know :-( i'm getting so upset here  had to come home & try & sort out some money as hubby hasn't been paid yet (should have been paid monday) & my mum said she's pay by card over the phone but i'm still waiting for them to sort out an appointment for her
poor bailey has an infection & they don't know whether it's in her bladder or womb

thanks :) they thought it was poly something or other & said she'd have to be spayed or she'd die... i wanted them to check with a scan first & am so glad i did!!
such a relief to know she doesn't have to go through all that...
bill came to nearly £90 but it's not worth using my insurance as i have to pay the first £50 anyway & my policy would probably then go up :whistling:

We would have sold the house if it would have meant keeping our german shepherd alive.
Money was no object, a friend of ours paid over 20 grand to keep their labarador walking and living for another year.

Hi
Its a companion care thing, we had the same problem when our springer went in for xrays we had to pay the amount and then claim it from insurance, took nearly 6 months to get our money back was ridiculous.

it's mad isn't it? i've been talking to my friend today who goes to another vets local to us who she says is great, so i think i'm gonna change my dogs over to there :)
