getting rid of the kids toys. I do :(
Xmas soon and both of my boys have their birthday in December too.
At the moment especially with my little one who's in the box room, i can't physically fit all his toys in and in a few months there will be tonnes more :(
I have just been tidying it up and have got a few things to sell on here and some stuff for charity and a few bits to throw away that have lost bits etc.

Does anyone else feel like that?

Thats a good idea.... although my local charity shop is kinda to do with the local kids home. I'm 26 i haven't really got anything much from when iw as little but my other hald who's alot older than me his mum has kept everything. We have sold a few things recently as we were going to move and some is still in the attic. :)

No I just regret buying them, lol. Toys that have never been looked at, never mind played with, I sell and use the money to buy more for the next Birthday/Xmas,lol.

Well i was thinking of doing that but felt kinda of tight dong so as it's kinda theirs already if you know what i mean. :?
Stuff like beads etc, I give my kids a chance to tidy them up, if they don't, out comes the hoover and bye bye beads, (I don't buy them beads and I try telling my family not to, but do they listen? OH NO).

lol i have boys so dont really get things like that,
Some toys that they've grown out of I used to give to the local nursery, cheap throwaway stuff I give to the charity shops.

Obviously, well-loved toys, the rare few that there are, are kept, the memories they hold are far too precious to throw away:)

we recycle toys easily enough - she gets bored of them anyway so they go on ebay\freecycle\friends it's things she makes we have trouble with - ours is only 2 and a half but the house is almost full to the brim with pictures, paper snakes, bugs made out of toilet rolls, shoebox catapiller gardens - well you get the idea all sort of crazy stuff - everywhere!

Try having a sort out with your boys. Tip all the boys out of their boxes, have one pile for the bin, one pile to sell/charity shop and the other to keep.

I did this with my kids when they were younger and it worked, it's quite surprising who you want to keep and who you are quite happy to let go.

wow!!!!:)

We always had a clear out before christmas when I was younger.

We were told father christmas gave them to the younger children because we were too big for them now, then as we got older we were told they went to the poorer children who wouldnt be getting a lot of toys for christmas (and they were always given to charity shop, never sold)

Nope, if I dont clear it out then i'll be over run with crap in months.

Last year I went through everything, ended up with 7 black bags of toys that were broken, this year my Mum has been warned not to buy crap, now that might sound harsh to some of you, but I'd rather she bought them 1 good toy than 10 outta a pound shop that break as soon as you look at them.

My life at Christmas has been a nightmare the past few year, my Mum buys that much that sometimes it looks like its more than what we've bought, the other year we made a mistake and let zoe open the ones from my Mum first which made her not want to sit and open all the one's we'd got her, we were not amused to say the least.

Last year she musta bought the girls at least 8 jigsaws each, now I'm all for jigsaws but kids ones and especially the ages of my kids, the pieces need to be good quality and chunkyish.

I'm dreading what is getting brought this year as she's been buying since January. :-(

Oh yeah, the other room her now ex bought a huge ball pit and a huge bouncy castle, I had just done up the toy room so it was empty, they said oh we thought you could just put them in there, I swear there was no room for anything else, unfortunately the "kids" took a fork into the toy room and they both got some unfortunate punctures.

No i fully understand what you mean, my mum's like that too ad nothig lasts, a few quality item's i'm all for. Seems the same with birthday present for parties, yes i appreciate alot of people don't have much money but some of the things they have got in the past (£ shop crap) i just chuck it...lol.. I personally wouldn't give it some of i think is dangerous too.

I try and now say to my parents oh i will get what they want and they give me the £ back, in fact i do all my dads xmas shopping then i have to have post-it notes and give them to him stuck to whos is whos (were talking the whole family here ...lol) i think its definitely better though, otherwise everyone gets something from the garage xmas eve, either that or some random item from eden (because they gift wrap) lol... bless my dad :-D

The worst about it is my Mum spends about £100 per child, on crap!!

I'd much rather she bought them a wee something and put the rest on a gift card and allowed me to go get clothes for them or something.

My dad is better I just tell him what I want, he asks me how much and gives me the money, he'd much rather I just told him what their needing that way he's no buying them something they have/we dont want.

Currently a fully working keyboard and a magnetic easel like these are standing in the rain:x He hasn't even bought a single toy or clothing for them Rant over:-D

£100?!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop complaining, my mother spends £20 tops!!! And even then she complains, I have no family here other than my parents and my little bro', all my kids pressies Xmas and Birthdays come from me, their Dad buys them fa, well he buys them stuff, but nothing they want, so it's all down to me to get them what they actually like, lol x x

They don't get very much, compared to what I see people on here saying they buy for their kids, but they get enough and are happy with it, kids are kids, they really don't need/want much.

Out of all the presents your kids get, what do they really like? Maybe 20% of what they get?

It's madness, it's only when you have nothing, like me,lol, you realise this, Xmas day is one day of the year, calm down and just enjoy the day together:)

I have no family here too atm. Hubby thinks they need nothing:w00t: What my kids get are from me or their party presents.
