My plan has 900mins ultd text and ultd internet.

Will i get charged extra for using a blackberry if i buy one on payg as i heard they have a special plan or something?

no special sim needed but bb charge £5 for bb service, im not sure if you can disable this feature but you can call them and ask

No, you would need to enable BB services for an extra £5 per month.

My understanding of it is that you need to pay a premium to use services which use Blackberry's servers (such as blackberry messenger, blackberrys default browser and email clients)

You don't have to pay the extra, I think the phone will work with just your standard SIM - but you won't be able to use any of the above. You'll need to install another internet browser (i.e. Opera) and another email client because the default blackberry ones won't work
