Hi,

I was wondering if they get too dirty and end up looking grubby.
Ive also heard that the dirt can be very difficult to shift even with leather cleaners? is this true?
Thanks

decent quality leather is easy to clean

poorer quality tends to crease but should still last a while

Yes they do we have got one and we are always cleaning it we wish we had got a darker one
#3
Only if you sit on them.. :-D
#4
If you have kids (or will be having them in the near future) I would definitely go with a dark colour. Biro is a barstuard to remove.

If you wear jeans often, expect blue dye to get around it...

But yeah, they do look dirty afer a while, and it is hard to keep clean.

Cream Coloured Leather Sofas, mmmmmmm classy! :whistling: All you need now is a frosted glass coffee table!

as long as your notdirty yourself then there just like any other sofa. we have leather cleaner so if someone spills a drink or something we can just wipe it off.

My mum has them and even with a cat they never got dirty. Although if you have kids it may be a good idea to get a darker colour.

We used to have a pale pink DFS leather sofa and chair in the lounge (with 5 children between us and 2 cats) and now it's in the conservatory for the cats, we did worry that the cats would scratch it to bits, but not so. We have used fairy liquid and bleach to clean it with no ill effects at all. The leather cleaners supplied never seemed to be much use. I've also used Cif with no ill effects, but then I have put dirty trainers/boots in the washing machine/dishwasher too without problems, nothing ventured. Much better wearing than the cloth one we now have I may add.

i have a black leather 3 seater and 2 seater glad i went for black as i have 3 children and the sofas are fab had it now for 5 years and will prob last another 10 years if i wanted to keep it that long. bit of advise though is dont buy the cheap ones they are nasty if you want your sofa to last then spend that bit extra.

I got a black suite, a green suite and a brown suite but personally I'd never go for cream or anything too light. In saying that cream leather is a zillion times better than cream fabric.

I have a white leather corner suit and I have to keep throws on it most of the time as it does get dirty looking, 2 adults, 2 kids and dogs that brush past it! Having said that when we had the black one I was always xleaning it. I find baby wipes tend to get most the muck of in the quickest time, Hairspray only works on biro if u do it as soon as the drawing has been done, i know this as i found some nice graffiti from my daughter hidden under the throw and hairspray didnt touch it.

I've got a cream three seater and two chairs I simply make up a solution of warm water and hand wash just a few pumps of hnd wash and wash down with a cloth stubborn marks I use a baby toothbrush or a soft bristled brush. Hair spray for biro marks followed by above solution. I've got two kids 8 & 4 and had sofas for over 5 yrs once they are cleaned they look like new again. My friend has a brown one and hers marks just as bad. Jeans are a nightmare tho x

My sofas are cream too. I have 2 dogs and they are a nightmare to keep clean.(the sofas too lol) High maintence, I am forever washing them. I wouldn`t recommend cream sofas to anyone:-(

we always have leather sofas with the kids as I can clean them easily with a bowl of warm water and a soft cloth. Sorted! Aren't many fabric sofas you can do that with!!!

The expensive leather cleaners they try and sell you with the sofa aren't any good at all in my experience.

HTH!

Biro on cream leather! Get yourself an Easy Erasing Pad by Scotch-Brite. I got mine in Tesco, it works wonders on lot's of things including bringing dirt to the surface of leather and removing biro.

Cool, thanks for all your thoughts... Decided against the cream leather....

We took advantage of the Homebase 10% last weekend and picked up a nice comfy 'Adria Chocolate Leather Sofa' instead.

http://www.homebase.co.uk/wcsstore/homebase/images/50-1749638HB7293M.jpg

It was £849.99 intore, £831.99 online but the online picture had £749 reduced on it but went into the online basket at full price. After ages on hold to their customer support line we went into store and they matched the price minus the 10% discount. Got it for £680 odd.
