  I live in a bungalow surrounded by OAP's on all sides. Its great no noise and there's always someone around to sign for parcels.

  I live in a terraced house. My neighbours to the left are fantastic but my neighbours to the right are straight from hell (or Hull...)

  some of mine are OAP's I love them, the key to good neighbours is talking to them, one neighbour has 4 or 5 parties a year (they are in there 20's) there is never any probs, a few days b4 the party they go and tell the neighbours it will be happening and there will be some noise, The OAP's are fine with this, they feel respected, and even if the music and cars go on till 1 am, everyone is fine.
  
  The young ones don't just take, the lad will help the neighbours, if they need it too.

  One side yes the other no. In about 2 weeks it will have been a year since they started renovating the house. Pretty much every day for the past 12 months there has been constant hammering, drilling, and just general noise. Annoying is not the word. Nobody even lives there and they still manage to constantly p me off.

  my neighbours are very understanding, they don't seem to mind that my greyhound keeps trying to mount & mate with their motorbike when they park it on the street

  Neighbours are a bit so so but some of the local shop owners are really nice. I dont think its anything business related but they are really nice genuine sorts.
  Local takeaway has often given my nephew a free portion of chips. They must think he looks hungry and cant afford food or something.
  And the local corner shop always allows me to take things if I want something but dont have enough change on me. Just trusts me to bring the money back.

  I live in a flat so have quite a few. Get on really well with next door, I was even bridesmaid at their wedding and godmother to their daughter. Don't really know the people above me, can't stand the person beneath me and get on alright with people on ground floor so a bit mixed.

  The house on my left - I don't think they like me to much when I have my music playing through the speakers. Sorry to my neighbours.
  The old woman on the right - she's the devils relative Aswell well as her family that live round the corner! But
  One of the gardens that back onto ours - the man gave my dad some money just this week to help towards repairing the fence because he's took the conifers out and the fence was unstable. :P

  we have lovely neighbours on the right of us, we hit it off as soon as we moved in here, middle aged couple, kids grown up, when they had works done they came round to apologise about the noise, and we've just done the same with them, we've helped them out with things and they have with us. BUT the other side are a flipping nightmare! rude, ignorant people, the kids i feel for , both under 5 and scream at all hours of the day and night , parents dont go to them to see whats wrong, i used to ignore it but not now, ive asked both parents why the little ones scream, they said oh they want attention! FFS give them some then!
  they were screaming at 5am again this morning they must have heard me stomping down stairs cos i heard the mum say shut up or she'll be round from next door, so when i saw them at 10am i told them i was about to knock when i heard you talking to the kids,
  
  for those who remember me talking about this and advising to call S.S i did and they didnt want to know unless i had proof the kids where neglected or abused, i have neither .
