Thought I'd ask, just something that sprang to mind. Or is it all voluntary.

Yes they do. They absolutely get paid.

I would hope so, it's not a charity and being a mod surely requires continued commitment.

I've only been here a few days and tbh i'm finding it confusing..

I am trying to read more than post but from what i see, there seems to be many, many people that step in on other threads, to maybe preach rules or such.

I think it would make sense to have a fixed list of all active moderators

All moderator wannabe's should refrain from posting in threads if they are not an actual moderator appointed by this site.

I see the benefit of wannabe moderators as it must be hard for mods to keep track of what is going on, they can't be expected to read every post on every thread in every forum, but should that mean that other users that have nothing better to do with their time, be allowed to preach rules as if they are the be all and end all of all things good??

Tonight, as i have been a sad person with nothing better to do, I have studied the rules of this forum, most are confusing enough and leave too much leeway for funny things to be going on, therefore leaving the opportunity for wannabe moderators to stick their nose in without action from real moderators. Most end up in threads being locked and users feeling put out as if they are doing wrong. Great way to treat established users!!!

Can a moderator make a list up of all the active mods on this site? This SHOULD include ALL that have admin privileges, ie: abilities beyond that of any standard user eg, myself, abilities to lock threads, delete posts, issue warnings etc...

So far i have seen quite a few, which is good, but it is hard to keep track of as there are so many wannabe's that with their reputation levels, come off as real moderators. Maybe that's why they feel they are allowed to do so, kind of like a self appointed sherrif or something..

What should be noted above all is that these forums, according to all of the rules, are infact PUBLIC forums where users comments alone unless breaking rules, can contain what they wish. Hense discussion.

If the custom text includes the word "mod" in some shape or form, this means that this person is a forum moderator. Currently, the moderators are Admin, Amibees, Col, Duckmagicuk2, Edi, Emmajk42, Juliet_Bravo, MikeT, Millarcat & Rayman.

People can post anywhere they want on the forums, as long as it is in a civil manner. the only expception to this is in the For Sale forum, where posting in someone's thread, without the intention of participating in the sale or trade, is considered thread spoiling. It is up to the original poster to report posts to the mods, if they feel their thread has been spoiled.

We rely on the established members of this site to report rule breaches. That's how we work.

True, thesinner - if you have site issues - please feel free to start a thread in the feedback forum. (Or search and see where certain issues have already been discussed. Thanks.

I think this goes down to my point of users butting in making other users feel unwelcome, there is a way of typing words that does not come off as sarcastic. Or maybe that was the point. As it goes there are many off topic posts in this thread but you make point of mine because, it touches a nerve?

Thanks for this, Maybe i should have created my own thread here on the misc forum, again I appreciate the way that you have written your explaination, very proffessional which is what I would expect from a moderator.

Hi t0mm,

Could i ask why you have said that? I only ask as when i was reccomended to come here, i found it very hard to think of a username. So quite simply, I looked around saw what other users names were, also at who's names cropped up the most, (did see a lot of wannabe modding going on) which made me come up with this one...

Original no, but hey.. It's a name none the less..

Right guys, this is getting a wee bit out of hand and drifting away from the topic.

thesinner, stop the wind up, just come out with your real motive for being on here using that nick,

Remember, most users on here look out for one another, that's what the community is all about. We wouldn't want any new members, or indeed older members, facing the potential of being scammed. Info may be requested from other sellers confirming authenticity of goods, or just ensuring they follow the rules like we all do.

Mods are limited in numbers and can't always respond asap, however I guess that when anyone spots something dodgy it gets reported, but surely you don't disagree with a member flagging this up right away if they have enough proof to do so.

I may be wrong thesinner, but I think that was meant as a joke.

You post about people 'butting in' pointing out the rules, and aScottishBloke follows up by 'butting in' and pointing out the rules.

I agree with what you are saying, and the answer to your somewhat weird statement is in my previous post. I have highlighted it here to make it easier though if you need me to.
