Basically to get married in this country is going to be £££££££££££££
We've been looking at Virgin Holidays I.E St Lucia, Barbados, Jamacia etc
Which is a lot lot cheaper. However, we wont have all the family with us -if any!
I'm 27 m partner 26 f. We have no kids and don't wont to leave it much longer so there is obvioulsly a draw in us saving the £££££££££££. Anyone with constructive help would be great.

Have a look at a cruise wedding, Everyone pays for themselves and honeymoon included in price. You may be very surprised at the cost!!

Do you care about your family being there?

Simply yes or no- case solved

Thanks for posting this, I'll be keeping a close eye on this topic

Check out Kuoni, we got married in Thailand, cost us just shy of £5000 but that was luxury all the way and not a conveyor belt wedding they only ever had one wedding a day at the resort so it was a special day.

P&O offer weddings at sea (the Captain officiates) and have a dedicated website. They require at least three month's notice and the cost starts at just over £1000 (on top of the cost of the cruise of course!).

Live in sin, done!

i cant see how you are comparing, you think its cheaper to get married abroad, by the time you pay for flights and hotels, and not have any family there compared to here where you can have family?

it seems you are not comparing like with like

My cousin is getting married in the Dominican Republic this week, most of the family went, Dont know how much they paid for the wedding but all the family paid for themselves to go which cost them about £1000 Each for 2 weeks.
Depends if you know if a lot of your family can afford to pay or if you are bothered if many cant go!

Not necessarily true at all. If you don't go mad and do some things yourself it doesn't have to cost the earth.

OP why don't you look into the £999 weddings large hotel chains are doing here.............A big country hotel near us which is independant is doing something similar. It does not HAVE to be expensive here and can be similar to abroad, if you look around.

Totally right, people just assume its gonna cost more here than abroad and dont really look, i think they just want the excuse go to abroad really. Plenty of good places here!

Even with a professional photographer in the family. And my brother and his best mate in the dj business it's still too expensive. Consider a honeymoon you'd be buying anyway somewhere very luxurious for example say Barbados, certain company's like virgin offer free weddings when staying for 7 nights or more anyway so why bother back here with the church , breakfast , reception and evening buffet :?::?::?:
I think :w00t:

How much do you think that will cost? Oh and breakfast? I had bacon sarnies for mine!

Where are these £999 all in deals? We wanted to get married soon in this country but thought it was too expensive.

Have you read the thread at all? You can get an all in wedding, the lot for £999 in some really nice hotels.

If your looking to go abroad, look at the papework costs involved.

If you have a relative that's a photographer, can't they do it for free:w00t: Our relative did, and the prints and canvas, you could do it cheap if you wanted too.............

Bt I'd remove that link it probably counts as self promo- it's a relatives business, so probably not allowed.

WHERE DOES THEM FOR £999??

I for one would rather have a unreal wedding abroad for alot less. Bring my clsoe family, mum dad two bros and that will be more than enough for me. The rest I only see once every 10 years anyway

The joy for us with doing it abroad was there was zero hassle, everything was taken care of for us. 5 star hotels, we ahd a traditional buddhist ceremony which was different......
I would recommend it to anyone, you can have party when you get back and invite everyone at the end of the day your wedding is your day and shouldn't be concerned with Aunty Maud and Uncle Neville not getting on cos the Creme Bruleé is too burnt :D

were doing the vegas thing in September. not getting married by elvis, but total for me, missus & little lad is 2k + 350 for ceremony then spends on top. in a nutshell its a wedding, honeymoon and fun time!! all rolled into one. weve got several family members on it aswell.

just do wht you want. weddings will annoy others, but end of the day its YOUR day.

I went to a wedding in Southern Italy on the Amalfi Coast; it was beautiful, and then the couple went around the country for their honeymoon. This was relatively easy for family members to go to as flights weren't too expensive and it was only short haul. Again I think it's down to how much you want family there really, especially if you have elderly/young relatives to bear in mind. Guaranteed sun cannot be overestimated though in my opinion.
Having said that, check this link for Barcelo hotels with wedding offers. Some of them are really nice- there is one near us and it's really beautiful.

Ebay for wedding dresses is not such a bad idea as well from what I've seen.

I've seen people "just married" when I've been on holiday in places like Barbados and Las Vegas and I feel sorry for them. They have no or few family or friends with them; the bride is all done up and everyone else around them is dressed in swimgear or jeans/t-shirts. I think if I'd have done it that way, I'd have really felt I'd missed out on having a real treasured day to remember...

Some of the big hotel chains do them in selected hotels, they were offers bought in because people were to skint to get married recession and all, I remember wishing they had them a few years earlier.

I drove past a massive country hotel today the other day that is doing them, beautiful,, to compete, my friend is hunting round all the quaint independants seeing if they have a competitive offer on with the deals that have been going round.

I am afraid it actually involves researching your area thoroughly, bargaining, if you want an independant hotel, see if they have the kinds of deals on plenty do. I am not about to name the hotel around the corner on here, as there are to many weird stalker types on here, really.

Jeez come on guys if you want to get married, put some leg work into it, these bargains don't just come to you, you have to make the effort, seriously  Look past your own noses and put some effort into looking into YOUR wedding.

Ramada were doing something similar near us - Maidstone

Marriot too.

My local Marriott was one of the only hotels not offering them - they were still insisting you designed the wedding a la carte style x
