do you have to change trains to go to the alps from london

Hi
Thinking of looking at train prices for trains to alps next year for a ski holiday. We have driven and flown but looking at costings.
Does anyone know if you can go by an overnight train from London without having to change stations. When i look at eurostar it wants me to change stations in Paris which i think is a no no with 2 kids and lots of luggage. Anybody know of a straight through train service or even a good bus service.
We flew this year which was great but expensive and have driven twice but its alot of work for one driver. I thought the train might be a bit cheaper.
Thanks in advance.

No I don't think you do.

Have a look at this link for the Eurostar Ski train

http://www.eurostar.com/UK/uk/leisure/destinations/direct_services/ski_train/ski_train_timetables.jsp

Those are the timetables- the site seems a bit slow for me though. I think it takes you there directly with no change, which is much easier. I had a look at this last year and it looks good.

Hi that was what i was on but when you go through the booking it tells you there is a change you go in to Paris Nord and transfer to Paris Gare De Lyon....
I am sure there used to be a train but not sure if that still runs.
I am only playing about with ideas at the mo so will keep looking. Thanks for your help. Rep given.

Seeing as no other train crosses the ocean except Eurostar and you already said they don't do it, what do you expect us to do?

I didnt appreciate eurostar were the only ones but obviously that does make sense. There used to be a train that people used to jokingly call the disco train because it had a disco and bar on board but i can only think that they must have gone on the eurostar to connect up with that or that that was the eurostar. I never heard of anyone saying they had had to transfer across paris though so maybe the route was changed in France.

The prices are quite steep as well so might be better to wait and see if cheaper flights are on offer later in the year.

Some tour operators do coach travel to the resorts.....kids might get bored though.
